      Group A

      Russia 1 1 0 0 4 1 3 3
      Greece 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1

      Czech Republic 1 0 0 1 1 4 -3 0
      Greece vs Czech

Greece and Czech Republic haven’t played each other for eight years but when they have faced each other the Czech’s have failed to find the net.The last major fixture between the two was the Semi final of Euro 2004 when Greece won in extra time 1-0.
The Greeks will be making at least one change as Sokratis Papastathopoulos was given his marching orders harshly in the opening fixture of the tournament. He was replaced by Papadopoulos who will likely keep his place for this Group A fixture.
Czech Republic tournament got off to a disastrous start and experienced stars such as Rosicky and Baros will be expected to perform to help their nation qualify from the group.

Greece: Chalkias, K.Papadopoulos, Holebas, Torosidis, Giorgos Tzavellas, Maniatis, Salpingidis, Karagounis, Katsouranis, Samaras, Gekas

Czech Republic: Cech, Sivok, Kadlec, Gebre Selassie, Hubnik, Rosicky, Jiracek, Plasil, Pilar, Rezek, Baros

With so much at stake, this will be a game where both teams cancel each other out. The Czech have the more impressive attacking unit but Greece only conceded 4 goals in qualifying for Euro 2012 so I’m going for a close game and a 1:0 Czech win.

      Greece - Czech 0:1 mybet Czech @2.320

      Poland vs Russia

Poland go into the game on the back of an extremely frustrating draw with Greece, after leading 1-0 against ten men before having to settle for a point.
The Russians on the other hand were superb, outplaying the Czech Republic with fluidity and pace, ultimately crushing Michel Bilek’s side 4-1 to top the group.

Poland: Przemyslaw Tyton, Lukasz Piszczek, Damien Perquis, Marcin Wasilewski, Jakub Wawrzyniak; Dariusz Dudka, Adrian Mierzejewski; Jakub Blaszczykowski, Eugen Polanski, Ludovic Obraniak; Robert Lewandowski.
Russia: Vyacheslav MalafeevAleksandr Anyukov, Vasili Berezutski, Sergei Ignashevich, Yuri Zhirkov, Roman Shirokov, Konstantin Zyryanov, Igor Denisov, Alan Dzagoev, Andrey Arshavin, Aleksandr Kerzhakov.

Russia looked so impressive against the Czech Republic and despite starting well against Greece, Poland faltered in the second half. With that in mind, you can’t look past a Russian victory, especially if the likes of Dzagoev and Arshavin play to their potential.
It will be tight early on with Poland looking to give their fans something to shout about, but unless they score an early goal they will be in for a long evening, with Russia’s movement and fluidity coming to the fore. The Polish fans will hope their men, led by the prolific Lewandowski, can spring a surprise, but Advocaat’s charges will prove too strong.

      Poland - Russia 0:3 my Pick Russia @2.460 + Russia -,5/1 @2.970

        Group B

        Germany 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 3
        Denmark 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 3
        Netherlands 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0
        Portugal 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0

        Portugal vs Denmark

Denmark’s win over Holland was described by one pundit as the best possible result for Group B, widely regarded as the Group of Death at these championships.
Taken in tandem with Portugal’s defeat to Germany, Denmark should rightly be considered as serious contenders to qualify from this group and not merely the 4th strongest team in a group which has 4 of the world’s top ten – in actual fact, Portugal lies in 10th spot, just below Denmark in 9th.

It’s been four games since Portugal last recorded victory yet captain and talisman, Ronaldo, continues to exude confidence. “We were better than Germany...and like in 2004, we started with defeat but ended up in the final”, Ronaldo said post-match.
On the other hand, Denmark provided the tournament with its first ‘shock’ by beating the Dutch through a combination of clinical efficiency and luck.

Denmark – Anderson; Jacobsen, Kjaer, Agger, Poulsen; Jorgensen, Eriksen, Zimling; Rommedahl, Krohn-Daehli, Bendtner

Portugal – Patricio; Perreira, Pepe, Alves, Coentrao; Veloso, Moutinho, Meireles; Nani, Ronaldo, Oliveira

With Denmark leading the group alongside Germany, the pressure is on Portugal to get a result in this game, particularly with knowing that they have to face the Dutch in the final game.
Denmark will stick with their solid style and seek to exploit spaces left by a Portuguese team that will seek to be more proactive that it was against Germany in the first fixture.
With two teams relying on pace down the wings, Portugal possess more quality in those areas and with the players knowing what is at stake, it should be a victory for the Iberians.

        Portugal - Denmark 3:1 myBet Portugal @ 1.990

        Holland vs Germany

        Puhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
One of the greatest rivalries in international football comes to the fore once again Wednesday, when Holland face Germany. An already fascinating encounter now has added spice, with the Dutch knowing they have to win to stand a chance of progressing to the next stage.
A shock 1-0 defeat to the group’s supposed whipping boys Denmark has left the World Cup finalists in a dire situation, with defeat here meaning they will be eliminated at the group stage, an unthinkable prospect for one of the pre-tournament favourites.
Meanwhile, the Germans were fortunate to beat Portugal in their opening game, but in typical German fashion they managed to grind out a result. A win here would see Germany qualify for the quarter-finals with a game spare.

Holland will be boosted by the return of Malaga centre-back Joris Mathijsen, who missed the defeat to Denmark because of a hamstring injury. He is likely to replace Ron Vlaar, who struggled in the opening game.

Holland (4-2-3-1): Stekelenburg; Van der Wiel, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Willems; Van Bommel, Nigel De Jong; Robben, Sneijder, Van Der Vaart; Van Persie.
Germany (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm; Khedira, Schweinsteiger; Muller, Ozil, Podolski; Gomez.

This group was supposed to be a relatively simple progress for these two sides, but it hasn’t quite worked out that way.
This fixture couldn’t get any bigger, Holland lose and they are out, Germany win and they qualify. With the resentment both nation’s have for each other, this will be an absolute classic.
Im betting with allot of sweating because im german but after almost 30h of thinking about this i see Holland win in a massiv attaking game by the Oranges. But if they dont score in the first half and have to rush more and give germany more space - omg

        Holland - Germany 2:1 myBet Holland @3.040

                Italy vs Croatia

Italy face Croatia on Thursday knowing a defeat would likely eliminate them from the group stage. A valiant draw with pre-tournament favourites Spain has ignited optimism amongst the Italian camp, but failure to back it up here could spell disaster. The game’s just as important for the Croatians. An impressive win over Ireland in their opening fixture has Croatia sitting at the top of the group. However, defeat here, and with Spain to play in their last fixture, would leave their chances of progressing looking very dim.

Italy (3-5-2): Buffon; Bonucci, De Rossi, Chiellini; Maggio, Motta, Giaccherini, Pirlo, Marchisio, Di Natale, Cassano.
Croatia (4-2-3-1): Pletikosa; Srna, Corluka, Schildenfeld, Strinic; Vukojevic, Rakitic; Modric, Perisic, Mandzukic; Jelavic.

Intens matchuo end in a draw IMO.

                Spain vs Ireland

After the first round of fixtures, group C has been blown wide open after the Republic of Ireland were beaten comfortably 3-1 by an impressive Croatian outfit, while Spain were held to a 1-1 draw against a seemingly rejuvenated Italian side.
Vicente Del Bosque will see this game as an ideal opportunity to get his team’s defence of the European Championships back on track, after Giovanni Trappatoni’s men failed to rise to the occasion on Sunday evening with a very poor performance.

Spain (4-2-3-1): Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Alba; Alonso, Busquets; Xavi, Iniesta, Silva; Torres
                Ireland (4-4-2):
Given; Ward, Dunne, St Ledger, O’Shea; McGeady, Whelan, Andrews, Duff; Walters, Keane

It’s very difficult to see Ireland pick up the pieces after Sunday’s deflating defeat to the Croatians. A team that entirely bases itself around defensive solidity and counter-attacking football was severely lacking in both areas, and what was left was a team devoid of ideas and pace. The Spanish will relish the clash against the demoralised Irish, and with good reason; a comfortable win is on the cards.

                Spain - Ireland 4:0 myPick Spain-2 @ 2.580

                Group D

                Ukraine 1 1 0 0 2 1 1 3
                England 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
                France 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
                Sweden 1 0 0 1 1 2 -1 0

                France vs Ukraine

France will be looking to stamp down their authority on Group D when they play home nation Ukraine in Donetsk. The game looks fairly straightforward for France.

Ukraine: Pyatov, Selin, Khacheridi, Mykhalyk, Tymoschuk, Gusev, Yarmolenko, Nazarenko, Konoplyanka, Shevchenko, Voronin
France: Lloris; Evra, Méxes, Rami, Debuchy; Diarra, M’Vila; Ribéry, Nasri, Valbuena; Benzema

Overall, all signs point towards a French victory.

                Ukraine - France 0:2 myPick France @ 2.130 2 Units

                England vs Sweden

In what is turning into a far less straightforward Group D than anticipated, group minnows (and co- hosts) Ukraine find themselves perched proudly, if not only temporarily, on top of the pile. The French may not be so easily overwhelmed by the intimidating and quite frankly, awe-inspiring partisan support, meaning that this will be a crucial game for England if they have any hopes of topping the group.

Sweden on the other hand will undoubtedly be looking to put the shock defeat to Ukraine behind them, and dropping any more points is simply not an option as it will surely leave them staring down the barrel of elimination.

England: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole, Scott Parker, Steven Gerrard, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck

Sweden: Andreas Isaksson, Mikael Lustig, Olof Mellberg, Andreas Granqvist, martin Olsson, Rasmus Elm, Kim Kallstrom, Sebastian Larsson, Christian Wilhelmson, Markus Rosenberg, Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The England team are beginning to build a reputation under Hodgson as a well-oiled defensive unit, but as many of the players remarked following the draw against France; they will have to become more expansive in attack in order to progress in the tournament.
Against an admittedly weaker opponent in the form of Sweden, England will surely relinquish some of their defensive responsibilities to free up the likes of Chamberlain, Young and Welbeck against an ageing and less mobile Swedish defence.
The English team have an abundance of creative talent across the midfield and will look to skipper Steven Gerrard to improve upon his impressive display on Monday night and find a way to unlock the Swedish defence.
Despite the significance of a defeat for either of these teams at this stage in the competition I am sure England will come out on top in what is sure to be a closely contested encounter.

                England - Schweden 2:1 myPick England@2.170 2Units
