D3's EURO CUP 2012 PICKS

[D3 Mighty Ducks]

In my opinion, this is the hardest tournament to win in all of professional soccer. Tougher than the Copa America, Champions League and even the World Cup. The 16 teams represented in this years tournament all went through challenging qualifying stage and these proceeded. Most of the top national teams are in this tournament and the odds of winning the Cup aren't great when you're facing a quality opponent each match.

I follow and wager on almost every club league worldwide throughout the entire year so my soccer knowledge is definitely there. I've followed the qualifying round of the European Cup these last 2 years and did pretty decent with my wagers. Been waiting for this tournament to get started for 2 years now, since the World Cup has finished. I'm very confident in my picks, especially if I have decided to create a thread and post my plays.

With all that being said, I hope you guys will at least take into consideration into my picks and give some feedback with your opinions. Good luck and let the tournament begin!

Going for the value on these 2 picks. I'm sure Germany and Spain will be almost everyone's prediction to win the tournament but I don't see much value in taking them at only +300 for Germany and +250 for Spain. I just don't like Spain's chances that much this year. They'll be the favorite heading into this tournament for sure but I think they'll be stumped this year from another International trophy.

like I said, I went with who had the most value not the favorites (Germany, Spain, Netherlands) everyone has those teams. I really can't tell you who's going to with this tournament, its impossible to tell from right now. You may get lucky and guess right, but there's no real way to tell.

My Italy bet is something I always do just because it's my country. 100 bucks is a 100 bucks. Nothing to serious of a wager but a lot of you will laugh at that wager which is fine. I like their squad this year. In 1982 the Italians had a big scandal about match fixing going on around the same time the World Cup was happening in Spain, Italy won that year. Same shit happened in 2006 when the World Cup was in in Germany. The Italians had a scandal going on with match fixing back at home and they ended up beating Germany in the Semis and France in the finals. Now I don't know if most of you follow Serie A but the same crap that was happening in 1982 and 2006 is happening again. Media blowing the players by accusing them of wagering on themselves, paying refs, etc. So that's just something to keep in mind when you laugh about the Italians.

As for my France wager, I'm expecting them to make some noise in the Knockout stages. They drew a fairly easy group, which they did the same in South Africa in 2010 and they choked by not even making it out of Group A. A huge difference from the 2010 World Cup and this years Euro is the head coach of the France national team now. Raymond Domenech was an complete idiot and was one of the worst coaches in France history. The team boycotted against the Domenech by not getting off the bus before one of their group stage matches in this recent World Cup. The newly appointed manager Laurent Blanc who the players all say is a huge reason the France have had so much success the disappointment in 2010 by keeping their 22 game win streak (in which is still going on heading into the Euro). I really do expect the French to win Group D. I'm leaning towards that France vs England game ending in a draw, and then France going onto to beat Ukraine and Sweden later on.

Agree on that. I feel as if Portugal could potentially beat the Dutch since the Dutch are knowing for choking. The winner of this game I see finishing second in this Group with Germany finishing first. Portugal is now +125 at my book to Qualify, got a bad price on that.

Right, Portugal has a shot against netherlands, considering both recent match-ups and style of play - Portugal has a tough time against strong defensive teams and seems more confortable against other attack-oriented teams, such as Netherlands so that game will really determine 2nd place in the group - should be a fun match with potential for goals, so the over could be juicy for that one. At better than even odds i could see the value in taking Portugal to advance. BOL sir

The Russians are coming in on a high after beating Italy a few days ago 3-0. The books are offering us Russia +125 and Czechs +250 in a complete toss up game. Russia ML will be the favorable bet tomorrow, but stay away and play the draw.

I thought for sure that there would of been at least more than 1 goal scored in that Denmark/Netherlands game. I'm pretty disappointed in the way the Netherlands played today. Some missed calls by the refs too could of made a huge difference in the outcome on the total 2.5, onto tomorrow.
