I know what you mean, there are Cups a plenty in English football, and ManU simply doesn't care about the Carling, they care about Champion's League. Plenty of people who don't play football will see ManU as 'only' a goal favourite against Leeds, say 'who's Leeds?' and play United hard.

My word I found it. No question he was trying to take him down, but that ended up being far worse looking than I think even Cole intended. The fact his body essentially rode Chicha's ankle made it look nauseating. Very true, could've been much much worse, should've been serious ligament damage. And humourously, your comments on Cole are far more tame than elsewhere, such as that youtube video.

Depends on the squad United field, I don't think Leeds can get more than a goal in this game, and if they are to get a result, United are going to have to be off their game up front.

#$@% Leeds! "There's only One United!"...even if this is the Carling (aka Mickey Mouse Cup), United will be out for a little revenge and losing twice in a row to Leeds would be a kick in the teeth. United should be able to scrape out a result even with a lineup mixed with fringe players and youth. I expect Fergie to field something along the lines of:

Lindegaard
Valencia...Jones...Evans...Fabio
Park...Carrick...Pogba...Giggs
Owen...Berbatov

If Evra starts, then Valencia slots in for Park on the wing. Rio may get a run out there as well if he's fit. Pogba will be lively in the middle and think he'll have a blinder of a game. Hopefully Morrison gets a run out there as well. Leeds are piss poor at the back and I can't see them keeping a clean sheet. Leeds also have a big match on Friday so who knows if Grayson rests any of his squad as well.

I expect a good number of reserves on the bench (ie. the Keane twins, Diouf, Morrison, Macheda, etc) so they could see action but I don't expect all of them to start. Alot of our fringe players have not had many runs this year (ie. Owen, Berbatov, Park, Valencia, Fabio, Carrick) so I think Fergie will give them a chance to start, then bring on some youth in the 2nd half.

Leeds on the ML has a decent shot. The home team is leeds couple that with the fact that Man U will rest most of their studs today, and I think we have ourselves a good upset pick! Betting against Man U is very hard to do even under these circumstances, especially being in the form they're in.

Boss ponders blend for Leeds

Defence will represent the most difficult part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team selection when United take on Leeds in search of his tenth win at Elland Road.

While he’s signalled his intention to freshen up midfield and attack from a plethora of options, there are likely to be fewer changes in the rearguard due to the number of absences through injury or temporary departure. Sir Alex told MUTV:

“The area of worry for me will be picking a back four because we’ve still got Vidic and Rafael injured. I’m not well off for defenders and there are players who could have helped who are out on loan. But that’s part of it and I’ll hopefully pick the right team."

Sir Alex says “there’ll be a sprinkling of experience” in the side so while potential debutants Paul Pogba and Ezekiel Fryers are in the squad, so too are “Mame Diouf, Macheda, Berbatov, Owen, Fabio – we’ve got players who need games.”

The boss hopes that whoever plays can follow their predecessors at the club and cope well enough with a challenging environment to glean a good result.

“Leeds will have an incredibly passionate support behind them,” said Sir Alex. “The atmosphere can be intimidating but we’ve handled that quite well over the years. I’ll always remember the 1991/92 season when we played three games at Elland Road in seventeen days.
