Not a very good year for me last year in France.

I love taking the the newly promoted team (especially in France) in the first week. They were a solid home team last year in Ligue 2. Toulouse is generally terrible on the road. I think Ajaccio should at least grab the draw.

Not really a lot to fall back on stat wise but you can obviously see Arsenal in some turmoil here with Cesc out the door and Nasri just about out the door. Even considering this, Newcastle played Arsenal well last year. They beat them once, and got a point with a thrilling 4-4 game. I think Newcastle is a solid home side , while Arsenal not that impressive of a road side. BOL This year

Not a good start for me last week in Ligue 1. I did watch PSG last week against Lorient at home and this team needs a lot of work to be where they think they are going to be. I think they will continue to struggle on the outset of the season. Rennes at home, inconsistent last year but had some good moments. They started out really well with the season as well putting up 5 goals.

Well this is a square play. I understand Stokeis a tough team to beat at home. They lost a grand total of 5 games all season, last season. It's hard for me not to see Chelsea come out and not go for it all. Won't be a very good start for Villas-Boas if he has to answer for a draw or worse on the first game of the year.

Think this is a bet risky with it being on the road. I think a lot of people will be hoping all over Rubin because they have played well in the past against teams like Barcelona and Inter in the Champions League. This is not the same team. Teams of the past where good defensively and hardly ever gave up more then one goal. In there last 3 results in the Russian premier league at home they've given up 6.

I think it can't be ignored that Odense has only lost 1 game at home since October 2010. I realize the competition is a little higher against Villarreal but they on the other hand are not so impressive on the road. I think this is worth a shit!

Wolfsburg and Gladbach have started the seasons pretty much the same way. A couple of good wins. Gladbach got real unforunate with a loss to Munich where a goal was scored in the 90th minute. Wolfsburg has played Gladbach pretty well in the past, having lost only 1 game against them since 2006. Feel pretty comfortable taking the pick here.

Stoke terrible on the road, they haven't won a game on the road since last year in December. I'm sure people will be hoping all over them after an impressive goalless draw against Chelsea. But this team is completely different on the road!

This Arsenal frankly just not doing it for me. They won the first game, but I think they are just too young to finish out in a big game on the road in Europe. Udinese has to be expected to get into the group stage by the fans.

Hertha Berlin vs Stuttgart Preview

Hertha Berlin coach Markus Babbel has vowed to attack his former club Stuttgart in a bid to give the fans at the Olympiastadion something to celebrate at long last.
Berlin have not won a home German Bundesliga match for two years, but Babbel intends to change that on Friday night with a display of attacking football.
"We are playing at home and we will be attack-minded," said Babbel, who confirmed his intention to play with three strikers.
"We have more or less been playing with three and a half forwards anyway - with Tunay Torun, Adrian Ramos, Patrick Ebert and Raffael behind them," he added.
"We just need to be ruthless and take the chances that we create."
Babbel is not looking for personal glory, though, against the club who gave him his first opportunity in coaching.
"I had five fantastic years in Stuttgart," he told the Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper.
"At the end of my career (as a player), I won the Bundesliga and then I was given the chance to put myself in the shop window as a coach.
"I still have a good contact with Stuttgart and like to come back there now and again."
However, former Berlin winger Ibrahima Traore hopes Babbel is not given another fond memory of Stuttgart on Friday.
"I expect us to win this game," he said on his club's official website. "We have started the season well, but could have had a few more points than we do."
Traore is not yet a fixture on the Stuttgart team sheet and he may have to make do with a place on the bench, but Serdar Tasci is set to start after shaking off an injury.
His recovery is timed perfectly since Khalid Boulahrouz is suspended after picking up a red card last weekend.
Only Brazilian forward Ronny is unavailable for Berlin as Babbel continues to bemoan his lack of effort in training.

Swansea is looking for there first goal in the EPL and this would be a great game to do it with Sunderland yet to keep a clean sheet. This is probably a shit game to bet on considering neither of these teams could get it done against lesser sides in the League cup. But Swansea has been disciplined so far this campaign, with no cards. Yellow or Red that is. I look for them to keep it up and hopefully win this game 1-0 or so. At worst a 0-0 draw.
