To be honest though, the offside theory works, but I also just think he was trying not to embarrass the home side in a friendly tournament like that. Man C. were all over them in the first 20 min and if they went up 2-0 right there, that early, it just would have been stupid and fans would be angry which you never want at those events cuz the stadium wants money so they want people to stay. Especially in a city like Los Angeles. The fans are there to see a few Prem League stars play some fancy football and have an entertaining watch, not to see their home team get destroyed by a richer, more established club, that's just stupid. Balotelli was trying to spice things up a bit without destroying the home side...THAT would have been a show-boat move for sure.
