    Because they've kicked the ball in the net instead. Very few missed chances, especially in the first two games.

          Translated to your universe: why were there so few runners on base?
          Answer: Because they kept hitting home runs.


          This is also why Holland, although a very good team, is presently overrated.

            Because they've taken early leads in both first and second game and were counter-attacking the rest of the games. Also because of their big leads they were happy to keep ball in possession in the middle most of the time they had it.
