    Best manager in the world
Most people would say Mourinho is the best but I think Sir Alex is better than Mourinho. Mourinho has had the benefit of strong rosters full of talented and high profile players but if you look at SAF's sides he has done as much with less talent. Look at the amount of talent Mourinho had at Inter. The Brazilian captain, Eto, the Argentinian pair, Sneijder, Jilio Cesar to name just a few. Compare that to SAF's current MU. Take out Rooney and you have a bunch of average players most of which didn't even play at the last WC. Whether it's tactics or mentally, it's pretty clear SAF gets more out of his players. I think SAF's MU are the only team that can get close to beating the Barcelona machine. My 2 cents.

Considering Fergie's dominance of English football (11) Premier League titles, hes only won the Champions League twice. If he was that good, surely he would have won it 3-4 times by now? Mourinho's already won it twice. AC Milan have won it more times than Manchester United during Fergie's reign.

And that Porto team that won the Champions League, he put together. Who would have thought a mid 30s centre back from Charlton Athletic would go on to win the Champions League? And was Benni McCarthy better than Cantona/Cole/van Nistelrooy/Rooney - all the strikers Fergie's had? I think Mourinho has done a fantastic job with what hes had.

sir alex ferguson has been the best manager over the last 20 years or so. He consistenetly build new teams that go on to dominate the league HE MAKES PLAYERS BETTER !!! For example, rooney, ronaldo, vidic, nani, fletcher, gggs and scholes.

Unlke like mourinho: who is also a great manager but he tend to just buy or inherit great players. Granted the porto champions league success was great but when you compare that with what fergie has done over th last 20 years NO CONTEST because since the porto succes mourinho has had the best players to work with and the money to buy them also

Sir Alex won the Scottish league and a European cup with Aberdeen, in a league where every title has been won by Celtic/Rangers (once by Dundee) that's an amazing achievement on its own.

Fergy is the greatest manager the world has ever seen

SAF is a legend but that doesn't take anything away from Mourinho. You want to talk about not working with superstars? Mourinho won the Champions League with Porto, enough said.

SAF has worked with the same club for most of his life, and you can't say there is no "talent" there... it has been the richest club in the world for many years, every player on that team is a top player. Mourinho goes from club to club winning titles and CL trophies, no coach in history has done what Mourinho has with the streak of unbeaten home fixtures etc...

Sir alex ferguson is one of the main reasons why man utd have become the most famous team in the world.Mourinho is a great manager but you could argue that the success he had after porto was down to the transfer funds he had when he moved around the to the biggest clubs in the world after staying for a few seasons. Whereas SAF built a DYNASTY since he came to united even though he was so close to getting fired earlier on in his man ud career. SAF also like to bring in players from the youth academy and develop them as well; just look at the great players he brought through the ranks especially in the 90s.

Why does people have the need to say which one is better, they're both very good at what they do, leave it at that.

Tough to call. It will be interesting to see how this conversation goes in 10 years.

                    I agree with you.

But Mourinho is still a better coach simply because he moves from club to club and wins major trophies like I said before. Man United was never "created" by Sir Alex, it was a legendary club before he went there.

i know he didnt "create" them but where were united when SAF first started? they certainly were not one of the best teams in the country or europe. Even the first few season of SAFs reign were not good but their recent success is down tohim.

Maybe create is the wrong word to use here, a better word would be revive.

                          Currently or best ever?

Currently, it would be Pep Guardiola for me.

And best ever, with a bit of bias, would be the great Bob Paisely.
