If they're shipping Torres out, they'll get that money back + some and it won't matter. Yeah they overpaid ridiculously, but in the big scheme of things, I don't think they'll lose money.

          BBC.co.uk:

1704: Yep, the BBC has just had confirmation that Newcastle did reject Liverpool's second bid of £35m for Andy Carroll. BUT we understand that will not be the end of the matter... If and when a third bid is made, we will let you know. Carroll is apparently keen on the move, remember.

          wow!

Yeah hopefully they accept the deal since I have a bet on Carroll to leave. Spurs wont give up on him either, its said that their bid is money + Crouch.

this is a joke, they should hold the money till end of season and plan out some good transfers, 35 mil, really!

Liverpool confirmed that Newcastle has accepted the £35m bid on Carroll. Very nice transfers by Pool IMO, Carroll + Suarez will score lots of goals. I think Suarez will be a hit in PL, he has already showed that he can perform on a high level at the world cup.

Yes, Torres is most likely history, think he passed his medical at Chelsea. And Adam is close to signing for Liverpool, they are stayin busy. United is also keen on signing him but looks like Pool are in pole position right now. I think Pool feel pressured to act, especially if/when Torres leaves, hence the big price on Carroll. They arent where they want to, and with a new manager that want to get players he want.

I love the upcoming financial fair play.

I see bad years coming for mainly English and Spanish teams when UEFA starts banning football clubs in 2015 that are sunk in debt.

Better stop that money-wasting bs now. Andy Carroll ain't even 20mio worth.

very true, I hate seeing players go for so much money early in their careers because it leaves no room for inflation when they reach their peaks... clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle seem to want to SPEED UP their value inflation in order to gain advantage over other clubs - but if a player like Carroll goes for 35 mil now, what will be his value in 3-5 years? he should be valued at around 15-20 mil now and maybe later, at around 30-35... truly a joke...

There was no official confirmation from Stamford Bridge but Telegraph Sport understands that Torres is travelling down to London where he will be checked over by Chelsea's doctors. Personal terms are still to be agreed, although these are not expected to be a problematic

Chelsea's lavish spending comes on a day when they reported an annual operating loss of £68.6m. The club's results for the financial year to end June 2010 show a small increase in turnover from £203.3m to £205.8 million, but with operating loss reducing from £72.3 to £68.6m.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have confimed the signing Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll, who will replace the Spaniard at Anfield. Liverpool will pay £35 million for the England forward, with various add-ons included in the deal.

Every body now english players is ridiculously over valued. Lescott to Man City for £25m, and that's a CB who never plays the important games. The price on Carroll is laugable as is Torres £50m and Bent £24.

Liverpool has been put in a situation were they need to buy as Torres 3 days before the deadline hands in a TR so thats also part in it.

Finally Liverpool pay the big money but they arent doing it without selling for huge money so I don't really see the problem with Liverpool spending huge...

Chelsea are going way out of line spending 50 for a striker who's had all injury problems you can have and has lost a lot of pace.

Carroll is the best aerial threat in the Premier League bar none, the price is a bit inflated but hes young, him and Suarez will be a good partnership if given the service.

Getting rid of Torres was a good move, can't believe Chelsea paid 50 mil for him, ever since his injury he's been a shadow of his former self.

Liverpool needs to stop rushing, Suarez is a great player but 35 mil for Carroll that's an expensive gamble, they could have done alot better for that price.

Yeah Carroll is a great player, but he's overrated. For 35 mil they should go after someone to take Xabi Alonsos position a few years ago. Gerrard is alone in the midfield surrounded by average midfielders.

unhappy torres or suarez+carroll with net spending 10M pounds? I will take the latter as liverpool fans. Crazy? Yes. Risky move? Yes. But I prefer this kind of move than leaving those 25M pounds idle until the end of the season (If Hodgson still here, I believe that is the move).

After all, we never really have 2 pure good strikers for years since Heskey, Fowler and Owen era. (N'gog is still learning and learning)

This move was rushed, Carroll hasn't even proved himself yet, he's young and will be under pressure likes he's never faced before.
