This could be a good game to bet on...
I think that WHU will win because of these reasons:
They are (Grant is) incredibly desperate for results after the 5-0 loss to NCU. Grant will want to try to win at least one of the two cups as he tried with Portsmouth last year (performed very well for such a useless team). They won on the weekend against Barnsley (obviously weaker than Birmingham) and I think that they will try hard in this game...
Unlike WHU, they have a decent chance to climb up in the standings, and that is what they will be concentrating on the most in the next few weeks. As much as WHU thinks they that will manage to climb out of the relegation zone, they will not. I know that Grant knows this (although he says otherwise in his interviews) and understands that his only hope of success lies in one of these two cups. WHU will face Nottingham in the FA CUP tie and they may actually NOT win that game, so this is the one to try in.
After beating MNU 4-0, they truly gained confidence in this CUP. As this will be the first leg of the tie, WHU will make sure to put some goals past Birmingham's net in order to gain advantage going into Birmingham later in the month (not an easy place to play). Earlier this year, WHU was leading in Birmingham 0-2 until they conceded 2 to tie the game. In general, they are very capable of winning this game and I truly think they will.
I will make bets tomorrow but one to think about would be CORRECT SCORE: 2-0 or 2-1 or 3-1... feel free to share your opinions...
