Week 17 - German Bundesliga
Please check the weather forecast for all games as we expect heavy snow over the weekend in parts of Germany. If you play the Schalke game - dont worry, they will play in their dome!
Moenchengladbach vs. Hamburger SV - Friday 08.30 PM German time
This match on Friday night will be a tough one to predict. The home team has a record of 0-3-5 in 8 home games, the visitors are 2-1-5 in 8 away games. It seems to be very obvious that this is the final game for Gladbach headcoach Michael Frontzeck. He will be fired if his team will not win this home match. The visiting team from Hamburg is one of the underachieving teams in the Bundesliga. They have a good team but they are not able to perform. They have a lot of players on the injury list but they still got talent in their starting line-up.
Gladbach 75% of all home games OVER 2.5, Hamburg 50% of all away games OVER 2.5.
If you like to be involved the OVER 2.5 might be an idea. Both teams to score is an alternative.
FC Schalke 04 vs. 1.FC Koeln - Saturday 03.30 PM German time
Another underachieving team with Schalke to be expected in the top 5 - now ranked 10th in the table. Last home game was a 2-0 against Bayern and Schalke will be a strong favourite against Koeln. Koeln is ranked 16th at the moment and they will miss their top strikers Podolski and Novakovic due to injuries for this game. Schalke 75% OVER 2.5 in home games, Koeln 62.5 % OVER 2.5 in away games.
Pick Schalke 04 to win / OVER 2.5 goals
Werder Bremen vs. 1. FC Kaiserslautern - Saturday 03.30 PM German time
Werder Bremen is the biggest upset of this season. They lost Mesut Oezil before the season and they never became the team that we know for years - high scoring offense and weak defense. This year they struggle to score and they are still weak on defense so this results in place 12 of the table. Kaiserslautern promoted to Budesliga in the summer and they perform as expected. Solid team, very strong at home, weak on the road. Werder 71,4% OVER 2.5 in home games, Kaiserslautern 87.5% OVER 2.5 in away games. Normally this could end in a win for Werder but they are always hard to predict. If you want to bet here, maybe take the OVER 2.5 without any guarantee!
Vfl Wolfsburg - TSG Hoffenheim - Saturday 03.30 PM German time
Another upset team - Wolfsburg - the Volkswagen team invested a lot of money and hired a new coach to establish the team in the Championsleague - now they are ranked 14th in the table. Hoffenheim back on track after a weaker year 2009/2010. A lot of talent in the team, very balanced home and away. Wolfsburg 57% OVER 2.5 in home games, Hoffenheim 50% OVER in away games. This looks like an open game with less indications for OVER/UNDER predictions. If you really want to bet on it - maybe go for a draw
Eintracht Frankfurt - Borussia Dortmund - Saturday 03.30 PM German time
The home team plays a very nice season until now but they have huge problems as many key players are injured. The league top scorer Gekas plays for Frankfurt and he is always worth to be considered in a goal bet like 1st scorer / anytime scorer.
Dortmund draws at Sevilla on Wednesday and will now concentrate 100% on the Bundesliga. They have a wonderful young team that works hard and is always ready to perform. They won all 8 away games this season and they scored 21:5 goals in those 8 games. So the pick is obvious - Double chance Eintracht Frankfurt!
Why - because every streak will end sometime someday. Frankfurt is 3-1-3 in 7 home games with 8:10 goals so I expect a low scoring game and maybe they will be the team who stops Borussia.
1. FC Nuernberg vs. Hannover 96 - Saturday 03.30 PM German time
Nuernberg ranked 11th in the table with a home record of 4-0-3 11:11 goals this season. Hannover 96 ranked 3rd (the biggest surprise of the all - even bigger than Dortmunds top performance this year!) with an away record of 4-0-3 6:11 goals. Hannover won the last 5 games (all time record!) but they lost their top scorer Ya Konan due to injury. 2nd best striker Abdellaoue returns from injury and is likely to play.
Very tricky one to predict as both teams are average in their home/away record. Looks like a draw. Nuernberg 87,5% OVER 2.5 in home games, Hannover 57,1% OVER 2.5 in away games.
St. Pauli vs. Mainz 05 - Saturday 06.30 PM German time
St. Pauli ranked 15th in the table won their last home match against Kaiserslautern. It was their first home win since March this year. Mainz performed very strong the first weeks of the season and now downgrade a bit but still 4th place in the table. Mainz is a team loaded with talent and they are able to dominate an opponent like St. Pauli even as the away team. I would pick this as a WIN for Mainz 05.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. SC Freiburg - Sunday 03.30 PM German time
Bayer Leverkusen will be the strong favourite in this game but Freiburg is a dangerous team in away matches. They won at Hoffenheim, Nuernberg and Frankfurt (all teams are not too bad at home) so they have the potential to get at least a draw in this game. Bayer is loaded with talent and if they play their game they will win this one. PICK Leverkusen to win
VFB Stuttgart vs. Bayern Muenchen - Sunday 05.30 PM German time
I will not predict this one as Stuttgart just changed the head coach and you never know what will happen. Stuttgart won 5-1 against Odense tonight but this was any easy win over a weak team from Denmark. Bayern will be hot to win the first of 2 meeting in 3 days (Cup match will take place on Wednesday 22nd December).
I hope that you like it!
