odds right now are hugely in favor of england and qatar

thinking of putting some $$ on russia at +220

England should win 2018, the only way they don't is if Russian mob money is accepted. FIFA are under extreme pressure right now so giving the 2018 to England would remove a lot of that pressure. If Russia gets it then that pressure will increase by a lot, even wikileaks come out yesterday with evidence about the strong Russian government ties to the mafia.

I hope Qatar and Russia don't get any world cups, that would be a disgrace to our game.

yes they were favored on bet365 at around -165 when the odds closed

yes it is surprising, they have nothing going for them exept the fact that the world cup has never been hosted in the middle east

then again its never been hosted in australia which was second favorite at +333

and usa was around +400

i thought of putting a unit on australia and one on usa but wussed out and went with just england

qatar is a small state, barely a country, in a very unstable region and extreme temperatures which esentially make it a desert

you gotta think attendance will suffer, not to mention the players having to play under extreme weather conditions, the quality will suffer

Australia would be a bad choice. All the games would be played at horrible times in europe which is the biggest market. It was bad enough in Korea and Japan. This would be even worse.

good point, but still, qatar is just plain horrible, not to mention that the stadiums will be temporary structures, they'd be made in such a way that they can be dismantled at the end of the tourney cause they have no use for them

you gotta wonder about the quality of a temporary structure that may host from 60 to 80 thousand people at any game

ahh...I didnt know a lot of people lived in asia. I thought because they dont have any decent football players that there couldnt live anymore than 5-10 million people in total.

I have to admit, Qatar's bid presentation looked *AMAZING* and they are a very wealthy country if not as flamboyant as Dubai. Stability is not a question because if they're so unstable why is the USAF headquartered there?

The real question is how they expect ppl to deal withi 100F+ temps. Maybe the field will be air conditioned or something.

Actually, they could just play all the games at night. That would take care of the heat problem, and 8pm in Qatar would be 12 noon in the Eastern US.
