I reckon about 60% of however many ADULTS are in attendance --- as soon as you walk through the turnstiles there are bookie kiosks next to the beer stands in the stadium, same as most footie grounds nowadays.

my guess is it's a little of both

for me, i have nothing else to wager on/scalp/watch at 2:00 in the afternoon so i agree with you it can be quite useful

growing up in milwaukee i love the nba
but the people i know in madison/western wisconsin/iowa hate the nba

all a matter of geography and what you saw as a kid
my nephew (wife's side of course) just recently said "oh you're watching basketball i hate basketball, i only like football"
this is a 5 year old


he hates something at the age of 5 just because his dad told him to hate it, what great parenting!
