The Italian media have condemned the antics of the Serbia fans which forced the abandonment of Euro 2012 qualifier.
The game between Italy and Serbia was stopped in the seventh minute after Serbian fans began throwing flares onto the pitch.
The start of the match had been delayed for 35 minutes due to crowd unrest.
The headline in sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport read: "The beasts. The Serbian ultra nationalists create chaos in Genoa.
"Italy will be handed a 3-0 win. Injuries and arrests followed in a long night at the Marassi."
Genoa's police confirmed 17 Serbia fans had been arrested while 16 people were injured, including two policemen, during clashes after the abandonment of the contest.
A total of 35 people have been charged by police while 138 have been identified.
One of those arrested, the leader of Serbia's ultra fans at the stadium, known as "Ivan", made it onto the front page of Corriere dello Sport.
A photograph of Ivan, wearing a balaclava and a black t-shirt with a skull printed on it, followed the sub-headline: "Look at him, with his face covered and with a skull picture in his shirt, he led the revolt with his compatriots at the stadium."
The Rome-based newspaper expects tough actions against Serbia.
Their headline read: "Hell in Genoa, Italy's game abandoned.
"We have surrendered to them!
"Serbia expelled from the European Championship?"
Turin's Sports newspaper Tuttosport condemned the actions of the visitors that ruined a game many families had turned out to watch.
"The disgrace of Serbia," read its headline.
Gazzetta's second page read: "Hostages of Serbians."
Tuttosport went on to claim police seized flares, sticks and knives after the game had been stopped.
Gazzetta's editorial questioned how the violent fans managed to make it to the stadium.
It read: "How they were allowed to arrive in Italy and enter the stadium undisturbed should be a matter for our security authorities to reflect on."
All the sports newspapers agree that Serbia could face severe penalties from football's European governing body, UEFA.
UEFA's disciplinary committee is expected to examine the match delegate's report and the referee's report of the incidents.Comment -

This is because of MODERN FOOTBALL where everything is about MONEY! Description of todays fan is, he is sitting in his chair(of course the same he has written on his ticket), when something interesting happens he may clap with hands but doubtful, when goal is scored (doesn't matter which team) he claps with his hand still sitting in his chair. Ticket he bought costs 50+€ and this is why clubs and football organizations don't like real fans because there is no money from them.
Description of real fan, weeks before game they are preparing choreography, buying material for it, organizing and then few days before the match they are on stadium almost all day, sometimes even nights, preparing everything so that it will look "cool" on TV and make living hell for opposite fans/players, they go on almost all away matches (distance is no problem), they will give last € for that trip, just so they will support their club. And yes, this people can make living hell for opposite clubs and theirs if they fuk with them like in Serbia!
Why do you think that more and more fans are going to lover leagues matches??? Because it's interesting and it's for "ordinary people" not for rich doodes with 500€ in their pocket to buy popcorn! Every single club in CL are without money! If banks says NO they will die and they will beg their fans to visit their matches... **** THAT KIND OF CLUB! **** FIFA,**** UEFA!!!
You can't see that kind of atmosphere in CL,EL,English championship etc... because there is industry, not football! Don't you remember of 'pool fans singed "You will never walk alone" ? Not they have to play it over the speakers because there is almost no people left that will sing this song!!!
