Not a huge EPL fan but isn't Chelsea a great bet?
I wouldn't consider myself an EPL hardcore fan. I know my teams, I know my players and I win more then I lose. But, being honestly with myself my over all knowledge of EPL betting would be maybe a 6 on a 1-10 scale. I know you guys know much more then me. Man City is one of my favorite teams to back but don't they always come up short against the top teams? I know their great at home but is their a reason to fade Chelsea? They look really motivated this year. Chelsea at EV money? Someone please tell me I am not going to walk into a hole.

              yes

Chelsea have solid midfield with Essien and Mikel to stop City offensive, attack with Drogba (excelt goal scorer and free kick taker) and Anelka, Malouda as WF, defend with Terry, Ivanovic, Cole and Alex.

              Chelsea attack > City attack
              Chelsea midfield > City midfield
              Chelsea defense > City defense

what can you ask more for ?

City beat Chelsea both away and at home the last 2 times they met. The odds for Chelsea are right, they are the favorites because of their form but this is their first big test of the season. Not that Chelsea have needed him vs teams like Blackpool but Lampard is missing.

City only have 3 healthy defenders, they'll probably move in a midfielder for defense so that's their only problem.

Chelsea should be "the correct play" here. But be careful, City is very much capable of beating Chelsea on their day. They proved it last season by beating Chelsea home and away and may I say, deservedly.

If I had to choose I would have to take Chelsea in this spot. Even without Lampard in the middle, they have enough depth to cover with the likes of Essien, Ramirez and Mikel (as holding midfielders) and an in-form Malouda. Drogba and Anelka up front will be a handful for City's back 4 which is facing an injury crisis as mentioned. They're considering moving Gareth Barry or even Adam Johnson to left back. If Barry moves to the back, his lack of speed should get exposed and if Johnson goes back, then that will hamper alot of the creativity and speed City possess in the middle. Even if Johnson plays his normal position, he'll probably be contained by Ashley Cole. Mancini has utilised a pretty defensive line-up for alot of City's matches but I'm not sure such an approach will good enough to beat Chelsea and now you have to factor in City's dilemma at the back and what the implications will be. The only concern I see for Chelsea is their options off the bench as Kalou and Benayoun are both ruled out after being injured in their mid-week Cup game. Some of the critics have tempered Chelsea's great start to their lack of quality opponents so they'll want to quash those. I'm not sure if I completely buy it since you still have to go out there and get the results which they have done in impressive fashion.

For City, if they lose this, it will practically rule them out for any title hopes this season and with their exit in the Carling Cup, it doesn't give them many shots at any silverware this season. That might be tough to swallow for the Sheiks after laying out a gazillion dollars this year. Though they did the double over Chelsea last season, I just don't think they have completely gelled yet with all the injuries and some of the players being unsettled about their playing time which has resulted in many underwhelming performances thus far. Think the scoreline here will be something like Chelsea 2 (Drogba, Malouda) City 1 (Tevez).

Chelsea are on form but every team they have beat this season has been bottom half, in fact bar Stoke, all the other teams they have played are relegation contenders. City are a different level of opposition, there are much better plays in the EPL than trying to pick a winner from this but I'll still lean towards Chelsea for the fact that City have a weak defence.
