It's good for Marseille that they've started the season slowly, which effectively eliminates the chance of them being over-confident against Spartak. The other thing is that Marseille aren't as bad as their overall record would suggest. Their struggles have actually been limited mostly to the road. Agreed, they're 1-1-1 in their L3 home games but that record should actually have been 2-0-1. They actually scored a winner in their last home game against Monaco which was canceled for no good reason. Even with the canceled goal, Marseille have now scored 5 goals in their L3 home games. What I like is the home-scoring progression. They scored 1 goal in their first home game of the season and have scored 2 each in their L2 home games and those goals were against defenses that aren't inferior to Spartak's defense, IMHO. So we actually have a right to expect 2 goals today from Marseille and I don't see Spartak equaling that. So we should expect a Marseille win with any of these scores: 2-0, 2-1, and 3-1.
The other pick I really like is:
CFR Cluj +175.
Here's another team that's being underrated because of their current league form and Basel's deceptive road record in their last UEFA games leading to this stage of the competition. This line totally ignores 3 things:
1) despite their seemingly poor record, Cluj hasn't lost any of its home games this season
2) Cluj has made recent offensive reinforcements
3) Cluj has scored in all their home games this season and have scored 2 goals in each of their L2 home games (and 8 goals over all in their L3 games).
I also think the Cluj game will go Over but I expect a "mass burial" in that game because the public have overestimated Basel's chances of winning, which has shut Cluj ML from +120 to +175. What folks don't know is that whatever information they have about Basel has already been used in the original line that installed Cluj as a +120 favorite.Comment -
