    One soccer pick - Monday
    YTD: 36-43-1 -29.46

    Stoke +140 2u to win 2.80

Stoke should be able to shutout Aston Villa's tame offense and coast to either a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

I know you are good at this... but I always like to hear the reason or why you think Stoke should win?

I'm just reading this now so this response is quite belated. What I always do is to cap a team's performance under a particular situation. In this game, we have a home team that:
        1) is yet without a win
        2) has not allowed more than 2 goals in any game so far. They even limited the powerful Chelsea offense to only 2 goals at Stamford Bridge
        3) may not win too many games away from home so do know that their home record is vital to their survival in the league.

On the flip side, we have a road team:
        1) that has 2 league wins
        2) whose road defense is atrocious (they allowed 6 goals against Newcastle)
        3) whose road offense is inept
        4) playing their first game under a new manager.

On the basis of the above, I was expecting that:
        1) Stoke would definitely score
        2) Aston Villa's tame road offense could be shutout

TBH, I was expecting a 1-0 win for Stoke in the hope that a Stoke's goal was guaranteed and that Villa would be shutout. So I ruled out a draw. The moment I rule out a draw for a game, I go for the side with the realistic edge - in this case, Stoke. So that's why I went with Stoke.
