Soccer coach, girl struck by lightning
Franco Emmanuel Olascoaga, 21, was on his mobile phone during practice at Crippen Elementary School in Porter when he was struck, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The 21-year-old was knocked out of his shoes by the blast and is now in a medically induced coma at the Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.
A nine-year-old girl, Vanessa Torres, was also taken to hospital after the lightning strike. She is in a fair condition.
Rene Salas, vice president of the Dynamic Soccer Club of Houston, said: "They just heard real loud thunder and a loud popping."
He said the team's first official match of the fall season had been cancel.
