Fully deserved. He done it all at this WC: he ran, he fought, he scored, he created goals. He has a great character, as proven by his conduct after the UEFA Cup final, when he respectfully comforted Fulham's players after the last whistle and delayed his celebration. He was the only one from Athletico that was doing that.

I made this pick prior to the '3rd place' game. He was completely deserving, being far and away being 'most valuable'. Well done, with this selection - FINALLY a proper one.
Other guys that deserved some attention: Donovan, Ineista, Xavi, Suarez (guys that scored goals, to me, don't mean 'most valueable, we're not talking baseball here). Those guys alone kept their teams alive with great plays all over the field, but Forlan, hands down, was incredible. He virtually CARRIED Uruguay, despite the heroics of Suarez.
Stats don't mean everything in proper football - a strong team player does. Forlan did everything, and then some. Excellent choice.
