    David Villa - best striker
FC Barcelona's manager, Guardiola, was extremely intelligent ti buy him before the WC, with 40 million euros. He would now probably cost 50% more. What a striker, the best one at this moment in european football.

He was expected to be top goal scorer in the WC, I think Barca were the only team he'd go to anyways.

David Villa has 43 goals for Spain, in 63 matches. One less that Raul, (but in 102 matches). He is the first spanish player to score in 4 consecutive matches at the World Cup. The last player to do this was Rivaldo, in 2002.

They were stupid to get Ibra instead of Villa last season. This move was about time.

He sure knows how to put the ball in the net.

Regardless if he's the best, he's leaps and bounds above anything the US put on the field in the WC

Villa has always been a good striker, so im not surprised that hes tearing it up this WC. I think its a pity that a player of his caliber and age has played so few matches in Champions League, 14 matches and 6 goals. Atleast we get to see what he can do next season with one of the best teams in the world.

But at the same time, beside his personal performance, isn't it dangerous , only villa is the man of every match , i mean spain is not the villa, its a team, what if he unfortuantely can't perform in any next coming game .... but still villa as an individual player is outstanding !! if he keeps playing like this people nearly will forget ronaldo !!

Del Bosque should just field 9 Barcelona players + Ramos and Casillas.

This is what Team Soviet Union was doing in early-mid 1980s, their 'base club team' being Dynamo Kyiv. Both coached by Valery Lobanovsky. The results? Extraordinary for Eastern Europe silver medals of Euro 1988 (second only to the legendary Gullit-Van Basten - Rijkaard Netherlands team), and the win of Cup's Winners Cup, today known as League Europa, for Dynamo, in 1986 - a repeat of 1975.

This was by far the most internationally successfull Soviet football team of all time. And if any club / national team combo can recreate that success, it's Spain/Barcelona.

                                    Vamos Villa!

similar situation was with Steaua Bucuresti in the late 80's. We were the European Champions (Uefa Champions League now, in 1986, and defeated Dynamo Kiev in Supercup, 1-0, goal from Gica Hagi). Then, a semifinal in 1988, and a final in 1989, lost to AC milan's dream team. The Romanian national team consisted in most of the Steaua's players in the early 90's : Stelea, Hagi, Dan Petrescu, Lacatus, Panduru, Gabi Balint etc.

What you say cannot happen, tough, because Barcelona doesn;t have 9 spanish players in the first eleve : Valdes, Puyol, Pique, Busquets, Pedro, Xavi, iniesta, Villa would be the ones possible, but u've said Casillas inseatd of Valdes, so we're down to a maximum of 7. They also have Bojan Krkic, but he ins;t in the squad os Spain, and he's too young.

Villa has been incredible accounting for all of Spain's goals. Can't image where Spain would be without him.
