This is insane. More or less the same odds as in the Slovenia vs. England game, but Chile have been one of the stronger sides in this tournament so far. Surely the bookmakers have made Spain unreasonably big favourites. Should Spain play on the same level as against Honduras they will never defeat this strong Chile side. I am open to the fact that Spain will improve their game for this massive fixture, but beating Chile can never be a formality.
Too bad that Chile have wasted so many excellent scoring chances. They should be home and dry by now, but instead they will probably have to leave S Africa, should they lose by the odd goal. Chile play some fantastic offensive football and they seem to have so many options when they go forward. This is the game of the tournament so far and I would hate to see Chile being knocked out. Still they are facing the EURO champions, Spain, potentially the strongest side there is, but so far they have not even been close to that potential. Why not? Their passing game has not been as fast and fluid as usual and it seems like only David Villa can score goals for Spain. F Torres looked out of sorts against Honduras, J Navas was pretty awful and S Ramos has missed the target several times in both their games this far. Iniesta will most likely be back for this match. Huge plus of course. Chile have to do without the suspended midfielders Carmona and M Fernandez which is a bit of a set back, but they can use strong players like Valdivia, M Gonzalez and Paredes instead. Key player for Chile, always A Sanchez. Hopefully for Chile H Suazo will get better. He was pretty bad against Switzerland.
Now I have to back Chile.
