That is an excellent point. I do think Germany are a terrific young team, but this was no test for them at all. Let's see them against some stiffer competition just to be sure.

You're right. 7 WC-finals. 10 WC-semis, but US fans dont have much (recent)footballhistory with the germans like the europeans or southamericans have. Yet. Unfortunately, the overall quality of soccer during the world cup is far lower than during the Euro. It should get better once the number is down to 16 teams.

Germany is always solid. They can go deep without extra quality, because of a strong team concept. It's not exciting to watch, but it's effective. Still, this particular German team is not one of their better versions. Klose is a very so-so striker, for instance. Picking apart an undisciplined Australian team doesn't mean anything. Germany will go down against a true elite team, but they won't go easy. They're kind of like the San Antonio Spurs of international soccer.

They arn't representatives of the beautiful game but what you have to admire is the efficiency, discipline and ruthlessness. They are there to win and destroy teams, they carry on pounding a weak team till the last whistle and give them no way back.

The German cup form is among the best in the world, everybody loves the Dutch as they play the beautiful game but they haven't had the success of Germany. But before you lose hope for the beautiful game the worlds greatest team is Brazil
