Nigeria GK played the game of his life, Argentina had 6-7 clear chances at goal stopped by him, Higauin choked like usual in big games, its likely Millito or Aguerro could be given a chance in the next game, Messi was warming up. It was a good start, its better to build up momentum in the later stages. They drag their markers out of position, it leaves space for Argentina to exploit and disrupts the opponents shape. Higuain did get into good positions but a top striker should finish when given so many clear one on one positions.

They're completely different types of players, if he wanted 2 holding midfielders, cambiasso might have been in there with masch, but he doesn't. Veron's in there to spread the ball around and make forward runs.

No, lakerboy is right. Argentina gets the three points. All that matters. They have enough quality and experience, and history on their side, to grow into the tournament.
This is the type of result you almost 'want' to see this early, from a team like Argentina. Don't show your cards too early, and peak at the right time.
