All the Dutch fans can relax with relief after the team's star Arjen Robben will still travel to South Africa and will play the forthcoming world cup. Leaf Bayern (Munich) got nasty injury in control against Hungary two days ago (6:1) and rose to nail the whole nation, but late last night coach Bert van Marvayk announced that injury to Robben is not severe and he will cry his alternate.

#16If Holland win their group, and Brazil does as well, they meet in the quarter finals.
Robben is staying in Holland for the healing process. It is still questionable that he will be fit for the later rounds. He would have to beat the normal time table for this type of injury.
The Dutch could go deep into the tournament again. Their offense and midfield are second to none. Defense is not world class. Much depends on the question if the team knows when to peak. World champions rarely peak in the early round. The Dutch look to take off at full speed, which could mean they can't find an extra gear when they need it later in the tournament.Comment -

In addition, the players made the mistake of believing the media hype. They lost focus. Peaking early in the WC is generally a bad idea, but that made it worse.
I would love to see Holland win, but I doubt that their so-so defense can handle the best attackers in the world. They just sustained an injury to a defender, in a training session, which could have a far greater impact than the Robben injury.Comment -

If Holland wins there first 2 games (and Brazil as well) they will rest there starters and come out with a fresher squad, this to avoid exactly what you mentioned. They both want to advance after the sweet 16 round, therefore they will look at there scenario after the 2nd game and evaluate the importance of that last game of the first round.Comment -

#30I think they could be better without Robben. I know it sounds weird - but I thought some of his play in Euro 2008 didn't fit in with what the rest of the team was doing... He was trying to take over games by himself. He's a much better player now, however.
Still a massive loss and even though the Netherlands D is pretty 'meh', I still am surprised they're not in the 'contender' category from most pundits. Hopefully that undervalue from the pubic = better lines woo.Comment -
