It'll be interesting to see if they can win convincingly in their first game of the tournament to quiet the haters

Its not a hater issue. No one hates teams that never win anything. The english hate the Italians/Germans etc cause those countries are successful. Hating is done on teams that succeed. People who root against the english soccer team do it because they enjoy watching a overhyped product from the country that invented the game get schooled at every tourney except one in there history.

it is not about their play that they are being touted as one of the best teams
they are just thinking that they have had so many failed tourneys that they might get lucky this one time.
england's success is expected due to that gambler's fallacy thing.

Terry was made to look like a world class player under Mourinho's system, he is one of the best managers at getting the best out of the players. Mourinho's teams rarely get counter attacked, they defend very well and counter very fast. Terry didn't have to get forward or push up much and was where he was most comfortable under this system. However, without Mourinho, under a different system he is much more vulnerable and his weaknesses have been exposed.

Lets see how he does in the world cup.
Norweigin Dude is right and anyone that knows Murinho's system knows that they will just sit back with a 1 goal cushion. No need to argue there, of course defensive stats are better under a Murinho club.

He just might be the answer... for the first 15 minutes of game one, after which he hobbles off again and is out for the rest of the tournament.
