    Monday Friendly Matches Review
Portugal Couldn't score vs Cape De Verde(sp?)
I've never heard of this country, and Portugal drew them 0-0. I think North Korea can play even better defense vs them and Ivory Coast's chances to finish 2nd just went up.

England, Argentina, South Korea and Australia impressed.

South Africa showed they have a chance of qualifying out of the groups 1-1 vs Bulgaria.

    any thoughts...?

It's tough to say how much you can take from matches like these. Some teams who have not finalized rosters, their coaches using this opportunity to play the reserves fighting for a spot. I agree that Portugal's performance certainly disappointing.

These are just friendlies. Coaches are putting finishing touch so wouldn't take these matches too seriously

I don't think that last night's game against Cabo Verde is relevant for Portugal's display at the World Cup. I've watched most of the game and at no time the Portuguese were desperate to score a goal. Sure, they've tried to, but the game was mostly to test their inner squad relationships. They've attacked most of the time and missed some good goal opportunities, with the CV goallie, Fock being in a very good day. There will certainly be a different Portugal playing at the WC, but Portugal fans should be worried though by the difficulties their team has at scoring, even before last night's match.

We all know that bud. But a team like Portugal losing to an unknown country in preparation for the WC not only looks really bad but it's a sign that they aren't playing well as a team.

This is why Argentina hammered Canada and England got a comfortable win.

Portugal is a big fat joke
Draw with the poor Bulgarian team doesn't make South Africa capable of going through the groups, but there is still some time and with a bit of referee help i think they will advance the group stage.
England and Argentina are serious business

England and Argentina got the job done, but I actually saw the goals and gameplay. Niether team still can't create a well made team goal like Brazil or Spain regularly do. Argentina had a lot of individual goals vs Canada, they dominated the game, but if they can't build a proper goal they aren't making it to the final of the WC. Maradona was celebrating every goal and acting like it was a big achievement it looked really sad, I love the mans passion but come on this is Canada with 90% of their starters injured... England looks like they depend on Crouch and their Central defenders for goals still. Mexico could have easily got 2 more goals in that game to tie. I felt Rooney was let down a lot by players like Walcott.

Bottom line, nothing new from these 2 countries, Brazil and Spain are still the top 2 favorites.

Australia didn't impress at all. New Zealand was better in the first half.Even game in the second part.
