    2023-24 UEFA (CL,EL CNF) Picks

    Amidst the down time of summer we do have the beginning of next seasons Euro Champions League, Europa league and Conference league qualifications. Four minnow clubs start the competition in Iceland this Tuesday June 27, and to start the new season I have one play;

    1. Escaldes +1.5 @ 1.85/-117 (UEFA CLQ) 1u Marathon

    The Andorra side are pretty much almost level talent wise with Budocnost from Podgorica in Montenegro. This game is being played in a neutral venue in Iceland and I expect a closer game then the odds suggest. Last season at this preliminary stage Andorra side Inter Escaldes won 2-1 vs La Florita in the semis and lost 1-0 in the final vs Icelandic hosts Vikingur.

    I already missed a significant move in the line here that was at plus money, nonetheless I made Razgrad a 1.40/-250 fav so dropping a rare 3 units on this game. Ballkani have only played a pair of games in the Champions league, that was at this point last season where they were knocked out by a Lithuanian side. Razgrad have played over 60 Champions league games since 2012. Ballkani are a side comprised mostly of local Kosovo and Albanian players. Razgrad have mostly foreigners from Brazil, Portugal, Argentina etc. on their team. So unless they are mailing it in and starting scrubs this should be an easy win.

    I'm going opposite of line movement here as four days ago it was 1.60/-167 and now its close to evens. Astana sit tied for 1st place in their league where as Tbilisi are mid table this season in Georgia. Tbilisi have not played a road game since June 1st. Astana have won 7 in a row at home. Tbilisi have lost all their 5 Champions league games going back to 2016. Taking the in form home side.

    The Latvian side Valmeria have gone 9 games undefeated a home. in all competitions scoring 22 goals and conceding only 7. In the first leg in Slovenia they lost 2-1 but here will have the crowd behind them to hopefully grind out a result. Olympia are in their offseason where as Valmeria are in Latvia who play n the summer thus are more form fit. I'm calling this a draw, but would not be surprised if the home side win in regulation to get this into extra time.
