I'm just going to sit back and watch it, have a lean on Barcelona to qualify but that's just because I like the team and what they stand for

                Copa Libertadores - Universitario v Sao Paulo - Sao Paulo @ +140 / 2.4 (1X)

Universitario have internal problems, club is in debt, director resigned, the board fled the club, GK and key defenders are suspended and they arn't a very good side. Sao Paulo haven't been doing too great either but have alot of quality in their side and these teams usually play better under pressure. Dogaberto and Washington will cause the Universitario defense problems. Sao Paulo need to silence their critics back home and have the chance to do it tonight.

No Smcc, I'll upate it later.

Sao Paulo got a phantom red card and were happy with the draw after that, they will get our money back next week, the team they are playing is awful.

No way anyone score at the Americana. The pitch is drenched and neither team can pass fluently, its like beach soccer.

                                hi kara!

i see you very often betting on southamerican games. maybe you can tell me something more about the art of play and mentality over there?

in close games, do they fight until the end or are they satisfied with a draw?

do they try to come trugh the middle with passes and dribblings or many crosses and plays over the sides?

maybe you have a good statistic side for south american football?

South American football itself is quite diverse, there are noticeable changes between the countries and regions. I could write individual threads about all the different styles of the region. But to answer your questions in brief, Brazil are the most attack minded in the region, they go to not only win but to score as many goals as possible, often you will see a team up 2-3 goals and still going all out which can result in a blowout or them conceding goals themselves.

In close games it depends on the country, Brazilian teams will go all out, end to end attacks, the midfield gets by-passed players just run from one side of the pitch to the other with wave after wave after attack. Argentinian teams up by 1 goal will tend to sit back around the 70th minute and get themselves pushed so far back they end up having to weather the storm of the opponents constant pressure, that's why alot of their games end 1-1. Also in Argentinian teams your likely to see teams settle for a 1 or 2 goal lead more, they tend to try and slow the tempo, kill the game and in some cases just turn off after they score.

Brazil teams love to play through the middle, generally the art of high crosses and set pieces isn't a strong point of their game. The technical side of the game is key, they love to dribble, pass and move quickly and take on players, you don't see as much long balls. Often many corners and set pieces are totally wasted and the keepers arn't great at dealing with them. Argentinian teams like to build up more, they also have an obsession with playing down the middle but not as much. Uruguay teams like to play crosses, long balls and practice their set pieces more, their style is more similar to some European teams.

                                      thank you very much kara!

i like to place in play bets on late corners (somewhere in the last 15 minutes, sometimes less then 5) and it worked it very well until i start placing bets in south america... well if argentinian teams kill the game as good as it gets and brasilian just go for a middle attack thats maybe the reasons for the very few late corners over there.

is there any other country where it is worth to look out for late corners beside urugay?

same thing about asian soccer, very unpredictable for me how the late game is played. just had very few bets in asian game but these nearly were lossing bets...

Stuggart are the most in-form league in Germany and chasing down that European league spot, Mainz have no pressure, they are safe and achieved their target mainly based on their home form. The motivation and momentum of Stuggart could make this a one sided game, Mainz won't come to defend, game could be open with a few goals.

Spurs are chasing down the final CL space, Villa and City are playing today so it makes the win even more important as one of the teams will drop points today. Bolton are safe and they don't seem very motivated anymore, they were never a good road team anyway. Tottenham should win comfortably.

In Brazil games its hard to predict corners except for a few teams like Cruzeiro, Internacional etc who can play wide. Sometimes its frustrating, there will be a player free on the wings but they would rather try and find a perfect pass through the middle or take on the defense.

In Argentina teams like to "try" and kill games off but except for the big teams who can defend most teams end up shooting themselves in the foot. I have watched so many games were the team scored early and second half they begin to sit further and further back. There are more corners in this part of the game as teams get desperate and try using the wings, long shots and long balls. Also the first half in the game can be totally different to the second half, there can be huge differences in these games, its a strange aspect of this league.

Also try Ecuadorian league, they are very physical and do tend to play wider.

Its not in South American but have you tried Russian league?

Waco Santos will play to win at home, if they play for a draw they would get hammered, Santo Andre surprised Santos in the first game and had the home advantage. At home Santos will put a show on for their supporters, they are best when they are attacking with confidence, the score could end up looking more like a cricket score.

That game shoes how important they are taking the league, they left stars like Veron and Bosselli to focus on winning the league and getting a historic double and are going for the Copa aswell. They will have a full team with Veron and Bosselli in this game, Chacarita is already relegated and as I explained last week have alot of internal problems. To add to their list of problems they have been punished by league and cannot play in their home stadium, the match will be played at the Maradona stadium and most the supporters will be Estu fans. Estudiantes is on a mission and I can't see Chacarita getting in their way today.

                                                                        Brazil - Santos v Santo Andre - Santos -1/1.5 @ +100 / 2 (2X) 20:00 GMT

This time they will be more prepared, with the home crowd, the confidence and motivation they will be fully focused on winning this game. Santos have one of strongest squads in Brazil, the region and alot of these players could become the Brazilian stars of the future. Neymar returns for this game, Andre is playing very well, then there is Robinho, the attacking talent is top class and with Santo Andre possibly missing their GK and some of their defense they will be in for a tough time.
