MLS changes playoff format

14 teams now (conference champ gets a bye)

season shorter in time (34 game still) but final will be november 10

the international break will be after the regular season and before playoffs and final will be before the november break

I'm a TFC supporter. Only get to a handful of games per season, but I went to The Seattle / TFC Final part deux. It was terrible conditions and made no sense to be playing a final so late in the season.

That's a big reason for the shorter season. That and they didn't want a break during playoffs. It looks like the top seeds will have about 3 weeks between playoffs and the first game.
