DNB means Draw No Bet Hence, a draw is a push or voided wager

Franz, u did better than me. Some shock-results in South America! Look at that current table + ramifications on who is In/Out.

I had Qatar +.5, too. What a bullshit result. China gets red-carded + then scores late.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

I was more disappointed with the effort put in by the US team. With all that individual talent, they seemed lost as a team. I can handle lucky or unlucky breaks, but i totally over estimated the US. You are right in Sth America, Peru are back in the mix while Argentina are in big trouble.

overall it was a so so day :

              4 - 4 ( - .27 )

They were playing Honduras not Germany. And yes under Klinsman they became a very good side that made it to the knockout stage of the World Cup.

Franz, one comment re: World Cup qualifying. I've heard this a few times, so I think it's valid:

                    * At the moment, Costa Rica is pretty good. They fared well at WCup 2014. But CONCACAF (over time) really merits 2.5 WorldCup bids, not 3.5.

My understanding is that the biggest global WorldCup TV markets are Mexico + USA. Envision all Mexicans tuning in to each game. USA isn't a soccer nation, but a lot of people watch WCup.

The amount of $$ that Mexico/USA spend for WorldCup rights is massive. In order to appease Mex/USA, qualifying thru CONCACAF is (arguably) the easiest federation thru which to qualify. CONCACAF gets 1.0 more bids than they deserve.

Think about who USA is competing against. North America + Central America is really two big countries, one modest nation (Canada) that's sparsely populated, and then smallish island nations. It's just not that hard to qualify. I know Mexico needed a playoff in 2014 (vs NewEng), and USA may need a playoff this time (vs Asian team).

Compare this to some other federations:

                      * Europe. A lot of good to very-good teams. Invariably, there is always 1 or 2 solid teams that miss out.

                      * So Amer. Last time it was 5.5, b/c Brazil was host. This time, it's only 4.5. Look at the standings. One good team is going to need to qualify via playoff. 1 or 2 others is going to miss. Chile has been huge on world-stage, they might miss 2018.

Chunky, there is no arguing that the World Cup is not represented by the top 32 countries on this planet. FIFA made many changes to the qualifying format over the years, all in an effort to promote a World game. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it certainly is a better representation of the world's best then say " The World Series " in baseball, as an example. The USA, Mexico, and most recently Costa Rica, have a huge advantage during qualification, no doubt.
If we are specifically speaking of the state of the game in The US, I put it's present form in the hands of its present manager. He has a solid resume in MLS and zero knowledge of what it takes to win at a much higher level imo.

Just my 2 cents, but I still believe the talent level of the present team is far better then the level they are playing at.
