City are terrible away from home. Kompany, De Jong are both definately out. Ireland and Petrov are carrying knocks and wont play the full 90. Without Kompany and De Jong, City lack any real spine in the team and i think Hamburg look a cracking bet tomorrow. Ive already took the 6/5 on Hamburg, i can see them being evens or odds on come kick off.
Citys Premiership away record Won 1 Drawn 5 Lost 10
Hamburgs Bundesliga home record Won 11 Drawn 1 Lost 1

Don't waste money on Werder Bremen. Wait for the outcome of Thursday's game. If it ends in a draw, play Bremen to beat Udinese on the road in the next meeting.
Hamburg is definitely an excellent play.

I'll take your advice about holding off on Werder Bremen. Definitely in on Hamburg.

The point is Werder are about the most unpredictable side in this competition. They could draw at home when you expect them to win and then win on the road when you expect them to lose.
Hamburg's excellent home form makes them a good call. More so, their coach, Martin Jol, has coached in the Premiership. So he'd know a thing or two about some of the Manchester City players. The other thing is that Manchester City just can't avoid conceding goals away from home. Now that Kompany is out, it'll be even worse! I'm playing Hamburg with all my heart.

werder is much safer than hamburg ,
everyone who thinks a german team against a english one in an international cup at home is a good bet doesn't know much about soccer ,
home and away league form mean shit ,
i still hope hamburg gets the win though

How many times have Manchester City failed to lose a game away from home? The issue is Man City have a habit of conceding 2 goals in situations like this. I see a 2-1 win for Hamburg.

I'll ride with Hamburg SV for this one. Having to watch the EPL and UEFA Cup, Manchester City is just not good on the road...period.

I've got good news for you. Manchester City on the road are what the New York Yankees are in the MLB - plenty hype, no substance!!!

city played at schalke during the 08/09 uefa cup saison and totally dominated the match on the road ,
hamburg was totally outplayed against galatasaray in the first half at home in the last leg .
Go with bremen and don't bet on a total coinflip in the hamburg game.

Are you having a laugh fella?
German sides have a great record against English clubs in both the champions league and Uefa cup. I sort of sense that you are hinting at the war and that English clubs play with more passion against german sides, again you couldnt be further from the truth. No one cares, even less so the 11 multi national players who will make up citys starting 11 tonight.
Anyone worth their salt will see Hamburg are a great bet tonight.
You mentioned City beating Schalke but you failed to mention Schalkes injuries and the players they rested that night. Also Hamburg beat Galatasaray over 2 legs, which shouldnt be under estimated given the fact of the recent change in manager for the Turkish side, they had been playing very well going into that match.
I have also posted up Citys away record and Hamburgs home record. Also Martin Jol has a perfect record against Manchester City, winning 6 from 6. I have seen City play live over ten times this season and without Kompany and De Jong, Hamburg will dominate the midfield and create lots of chances for Olic and Petric, who have a very good understanding. I think City will be happy coming away from tonight with an away goal, but i cant see any other than a Hamburg home win.

Back to the Hamburg game. Have to admit im really surprised to see Hamburg drift so much. 6/4 on betfair now and Olic has been named in the starting 11-he wasnt expected to make it. I think its english mug money piling into City but im still surprised to be honest.

Hamburg is looking really good in the first 20 even though they gave up that goal in the first minute (lame). And it's definitely the English putting money on a draw or something.
Eff, Hamburg just hit the post...
EDIT: That was a really great half of soccer. I'm happy I'm getting to watch this game.
