last match played on Christmas Day took place at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool, on December 25th 1965. The home side defeated Blackburn Rovers 4-2 in a First Division match in front of 20,851 spectators.
An important part of Arsenal's history took place on a Christmas Day in a committee meeting at a pub - a committee meeting at a pub on Christmas Day, I bet!! To weeks after they had played their first match hey decided to change their name from Dial Square. The meeting was held on Christmas Day 1886 at the Royal Oak pub from which they took part of the name to become Royal Arsenal FC
The First Division match between Chelsea and Charlton Athletic on Christmas Day 1937 suffered an abandonment when heavy fog descended on Stamford Bridge. The fog was so bad that Charlton 'keeper Sam Bartram was unaware that the match had ended, assuming that his inactivity was due to the play being in the Chelsea half. It was 15 minutes or so before a policeman told him that the game had been abandoned!
Fancy going to a European away match on Christmas day? It did happen. European club competition started in 1955 and on Christmas Day 1955 Barcelona hosted an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup (now Europa League) match. The visitors were Stævnet - the Copenhagen representative side - with Barcelona winning 6-2. The idea didn't catch on!
The most famous football match played on Christmas Day took place in 1914 during the first Christmas of World War 1. By mutual consent an estimated 100,000 British and German troops along the Western Front declared a truce, and those near to Armentieres in France sang Christmas carols before leaving their respective trenches to play a football match in sub-zero temperatures in no-man's land. Before the match - between the 2nd Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers and the Saxons of 133 Infantry Regiment and the Prussians of 6 Jäger Battalion gifts were exchanged - the Germans giving two barrels of beer and the British a plum pudding. The Germans won - differing reports give the score as 2-1 or 3-2 - and the following day hostilities resumed, again by mutual consent.
chelsea dealt with Spurs pretty easy in other london derby not so long ago. Sam leaving song and sakho on a bench, that`s more defensive players instead to me... west ham has good form and last time they done well, but that is how far it gets for irons imo ...
i`ll give a shoot at first half -1 EH chelsea @ 3.70 ...0.5u , i have a feeling chelses will have a quick start , even thou west ham has good experience in first XI for these kind of games, i am sure Maurinho has some ideas to get it opened early, otherwise this will drag against them ... i am sure they don`t wanna go in half time break with a draw.
will play live for good opportunity, most likely will be looking for good timing and price for overs...

Sunderland for sure. Hull City is sky diving with no parachute. Sunderland 3 units
I want to take Man. Utd but, I am not sure about laying 1.5 goals. 1 unit.
I kind of like Aston Villa +1 too, I think they could at least find the net. I think if they do, it will be enough to at least get a push. 1 unit.
thoughts??

i was thinking to try aston villa @ 5.50 for 0.5u... but will leave it...i have btts there
villa getting more and more confident... price is on them
man u isn`t that great for price they offered, and you never know what`s newcastle up to , but i included them in treble, so to less risk , they should win at home , but not worth for single to me...
hard to say will it be 1 - 0 or 3 - 1 here...

i think sunderland is boxing day gift...
hull missing spine of team today... livermore, huddlestone and diamme as well as likes of dowson and snodgrass...
sunderland prrice is over EVENS for only statistical reason that they havent won none in last 5 home games, but fixtures was ...chelsea, arsenal , man city , everton and wet ham... they gave a tough game to all of them , this is their best chance in long time and they know it, coming from great derby win...
price over evens

oh, well.... at least Man utd. cashed so the loss didn't hurt me quite as bad.
trying to decide what to do on this QPR vs. Arsenal game. -1.5/2.0 goals seems like a lot to give. I think QPR could give them trouble in the back and find the net. If they do that, it's very likely they won't cover. Over 3/3.5 goals seems like a lot too.

Tottenham Hotspur - Manchester United
as for man u lineup, only 3 changes could be in for consideration from newcastle game, shaw, wilson and smalling. wilson in for falcao, 2 games in 48 hrs could be too much for him yet, mcnair could give place to smalling well shaw is back, is he ready to start and replace young...
couldn`t get a half lineup right for spurs even if i would guess they have plenty options of like for likes and fresh ones. one of rare times where i have to say , man u bench is weaker than opponents. and this is key for me here. first of all man u haven`t been that dazzling with their 8 games unbeaten run so far, besides looking good over newcastle at old trafford, who gave up on game , before whistle , they haven`t been convincing at all, scraped few lucky wins and on a road only 2 wins this season... where arsenal pretty much sucked again against man u and saints was bit unlucky. with only one clean sheet on a road and that is 0 - 0 with burnley, their defense will suffer again, against in form spurs. as well as key to man u 8 unbeaten run comes with carrick playing in all those games, against fast spurs play at home, 33 year old will be leggy to maintain balance for man u in 2 quick games. because without him , man u has nobody else to to pull strings between defense and attack.
13 years man u coming and taking points at white hart lane, that`s 8 wins and 5 draws. well that was alex ferguson, who only for pre much speech had to say .. "Lads, it`s only Tottenham"
LVG will find it hard to surprise pochetino here, if anything, he will be in for one himself... i think spurs will turn their fortunes against man u here. comparing to other meetings vs man u , they are full of confidence, they have longer bench to face them for Christmas schedule, they have won man u before, and unlike other teams, they play against man u without a fear, for 2nd game in 48 hrs crowed will be 12 player, and after changing 4 managers fans seems ok for now and backing them well at white hart lane...
for more serious lump , i would say spurs not gonna get beat at home and 1 - 1 is something what easily could happen... all in all just can`t imagine at this stage, spurs so bad at home or man u so good to make it 2 - 0 or 3 - 1 spurs +0.5 ; +1 AH @ 1.5 ...2u
i`ll play this one live and will have 2 more smaller bets on. BTTS and spurs to win @ 5.50 ... 0.5u
over 3.0 @ 2,15 ...0.5u
well and if you don`t like goals or 1X2 markets corners is something to consider here..
man u on away vs top 6 teams produces little or less than home teams corners under LVG..
for example teams like spurs who not giving initiative so easy at home..
man city(7) - man u (4)
arsenal (11) - man u (5)
southampton (5) - man u (1)
spurs to win corner match bet is @ 2
lineups should be out soon thou...
Southampton - Chelsea
hehe... chelsea full squad as always to choose from, could see likes of shurrle and drogba starting, hazard could be in for rest...either way , team and bench is strongest for this sunday of all teams, but they just are not the same on a road as so convincing at home...
ryan bertrand in ineligible for this game as chelsea player. 3 first XI players didn`t played full 90 minutes last time out - long , tadic , wanyama. fonte could start. 3 absentees - rodrigez, cork , galaghher. so all in all , it`s not like saints will be falling apart here and chelsea is in for tough game.
chelsea game will be the same as against stoke last time on a road, and who knows how that game would of went if they wouldn`t get so early goal... either way, tough ...heavy.. defensive game here...
but i`ll be hoping for btts ... pays well and one each, seems like possibility BTTS @ 1.95 ....1u
Aston Villa - Sunderland
only addition from last game for sunderland is that Wicham is back.
for villa Agbonlahor is missing for this game, with him making up front trio, i wouldn`t think twice taking villa here. sunderland done well on a road against newcastle and on a road they been good and getting points every second time, but just 2 days back, they looked so bad at home... with no inspiration from no player to get things moving then they conceded equalizer and later 2nd, they had no player to string 2 passes to over come hull`s pucked midfield, few long balls and they looked wrecked and burned.. don`t see much changing for them 48 hrs on a road against aggressive aston villa at home, who last time looked like will beat man u here...they had a tough game against swansea on a road and they had to do load of defending and running without a ball, what is tiring. so if this game is not going for 0 - 0 than aston villa at home might get this one... aston villa to win to nill @ 3.50 ...1u
Steve Bruce (hull boss) said : this game is bigger than cup final for him...
pretty much says it all here, very important game between 2 relegation candidates, if hull wins this one they open 9 point gap between these two and 9 point gap, at this stage, could already put one contender out... would be too hard to pick up 9 points for catchup race.. on other hand Leicester knows that well and won`t give an inch here...
as for team news compared to last game , Livermore joins hull midfield as well as figueroa and ince is available for hull. vardy will be missing for leicester trough suspension, but wood and cambiasso could be back.
leicester have only managed 2 draws at home in last 13 games - against sunderland and burnley ...
and only points have come on a road against dire stoke at start of season, other than that everyone past easy leicester ...
hull comes after 3 points from last game. they do better all in all this season and they have better squad ... high stakes and with home advantage ... Hull 0.0 AH @ 1.82 ...2u
Hull -1 AH @ 4.15 ....1u
Manchester City - Burnley
Kompany and Jovetic could be back for city and Vokes and Tayler for burnley...
Burnley have been tough opponent for many teams , they do alright coming into pl... but nothing else as by how many they will get bet i don`t see... all depends on city lineup, how seriously they will take this, complacency and are they thinking of improving goal difference "just in case"
this one to end up 1 - 0 or 2 -1 ....nahh man city -2 AH @ 1.7 ....2u
QPR - Crystal Palace
redknapp was resting 5 players against arsenal, was very clear his choice... 50% for arsenal game and 100% for this one out of 2 quick fixtures... another relegation candidates battle where i fancy home side..Fer and Barton are back in lineup for qpr for this one and no new missing`s besides Sandro and Fraulin..
Bollasie and Chamack is big missing`s for palace... Bollasie wife in for labor ... seems today...
crystal palace have managed to get something out of every 2nd game so far out of 18... but they have 3rd worth defensive record in epl, they gave a lot in last home game against southampton last time and lost, whereas qpr, seems fresher... better squad and in last 5 home games they have 4 wins and only draw was against man city... QPR @ 2.40....1u
Stoke - West Brom
i`ll skip this one... both have been inconsistent this season, don`t have ideas as either skip or play biggest numbers because of unpredictability ...
for those who looking at it, i would suggest wait to see if Bojan is in for stoke, as he becoming very instrumental player in their attack and he went of with back injury in last game...
Dorrans, Brunt and Samaras is back for west brom...
Westham - Arsenal
watching and playing live this one... too tough to call here as well. westham will be stronger than looking than at chelsea last time out. they rested Song and Sakho , so midfield could be fresh and strong for westham...
Koschelny will improve arsenal`s defense today... who knows what wenger will come up with, maybe bellerin and like swill be playing...
draw @ 3.60 could be my pre much bet and live bets according...
Newcastle - Everton
neither this one for me.. will play live as soon as arsenal game is over...
Naismith and Jaggielka, howard is out for everton... Naismith especially in attack...add to it Mirallas is missing and they hard pressing and stingy counter attacks won`t be so stingy today... especially after no goals at home 2 days ago...
Newcastle welcomes back tiote , but for everyone else it will be changes everywhere again... i don`t know how pardew keeps together changing lineups and pairing for every game...
live game will tell where it`s heading
so and so my thoughts... use it as an info and idea material
as well as i expect game or two today have crazy result like 4 - 0 or something... because of tiredness and schedule, but many games will be 0 - 0 or 1 - 1 as many teams will call it a day come closer final whistle ... all in all all epl goals unders... one or two small surprises and mainly favoring home teams. as tough game in 48 hrs for everyone ant crowed could be driving force and second breath for some...

oh yes , forgot to mention Neil Warnock - Crustal Palace manager was fired, hard to say how this will reflect on players...still think qpr is very good home bet...
man u - spurs
David de Gea; Phil Jones, Paddy McNair, Jonny Evans; Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young; Juan Mata; Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao
Substitutes: Anders Lindegaard, Rafael, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Darren Fletcher, Andreas Pereira, James Wilson
Hugo Lloris; Vlad Chiriches, Federico Fazio, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies; Ryan Mason, Benjamin Stambouli; Andros Townsend, Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli; Harry Kane
Substitutes: Michel Vorm, Eric Dier, Kyle Walker, Érik Lamela, Mousa Dembele, Paulinho, Roberto Soldado

took saints to score 2nd @ 3.50....0.5u
they looking good today...
ok, i don`t mind to lose on high odds tries, there and there... but if relegation team, with smallest budget, goes away to play title holder and contender, on a tight schedule to face team, whose 3rd team would be still good enough to win, especially after chelsea drops points earlier, and comes back from 2 goal deficit... completely out of words, here ...
i am sure there were few who layed man city at half time ...
as well as,chelsea heading to white hart line, man city with 2 "easy" games could of been on top of table on 1 st jan...
didn`t see a game, but looking forward to motd...
so...anyone fancy AC Milan +1 AH @ 2.85 ?
i don`t think Real will roll over so easily today - by 2 or more goals...
they have a sunday away game against really tough Valencia, who all week is preparing for an upset. whereas Milan only next tuesday at home with Sassuollo...
Anceloti said in interview that bale and ronaldo will play, - i`ll give first half , will be substituted at half time...
Milan has plenty good players to stand equal to reals mixed team... yes ancelloti and real won`t be willing to lose here and they 22 winning streak, but as much milan will be looking to be first one to break it ... + if you look at those 22 games... there is only Barca worth to look at ...
italians might get a draw here and everyone will be happy come final whistle...
lineups should be soon up,... so... what you think ?
