Hi all,

Have a WC pool of $$$ going with some friends. Spent quite some time analysing the fixtures and the lead-up of most teams.

Here are our projected first round picks, including Group bets:



Other bets:

• Germany to win the WC $300 @6.5 - they are a lock for the semi-finals, where they will most likely meet Brazil. They have a great, consistent side and they are due. I think Brazil will, overall, disappoint. They aren't that great a side, horrible defensively, can't live up to the hype, and Neymar is over-rated.
• Top goalscorer - Aguero $10 $13.00, Higuain $10 @21.00 - I see Argentina probably racking up the goals in their sub-par group, with Messi and Di Maria setting them up.

Hardest games to cap in my opinion are:

• Brazil v Croatia - it's the opener, Croatia are quite solid defensively and they are an experienced, veteran side. Brazil played pretty much their first outfit against a terrible Serbian team (I'm Serbian, I would know) and looked horrible most of the match. I see this one likely to surprise and will potentially end up as a draw.
• Spain v Netherlands - 2010 Grand final re-match. I expect this to be cagey, hence draw first half. I think Diego Costa is injury plagued and will be hated by the Brazil fans. Also, both teams are getting old now and know each other well - I see this one likely being a draw. I expect Chile will surprise in this group and may even top it, they play a high pressing style that counters Spain and Netherlands' possession games.
• Japan v Ivory Coast / Ghana v USA - I see these 2 games as fairly similar. NFI as to who will come out on top but I see goals for both sides, hence the BTTS bets.
