    My 2014 World Cup Plays
With the World Cup just around the corner I thought I would make a thread to keep track of my plays.

I'm absolutely buzzing and cannot wait to see the best players around the world go to head to head. I've been following all the lead up games closely and been tracking up on team news as much as possible and I have found my eye on some nice plays that I am keen to take advantage of before the tournament kicks off. I believe I have a good knowledge of the game/players as I follow football passionately.

Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Australia, England & Argentina are the country's that I am most familiar with and I will try and do a write up for each expressing their chances of winning, players, playing styles etc. Providing time allows me to do so.

    BELGIUM

Belgium are an interesting side and definitely not one to take lightly as they do possess a star studded squad and for mine I believe they are a dark horse as they could go quite deep in the tournament. Belgium made a mockery of their opposing teams in the qualifying process as they topped the group and remained undefeated. Belgium beat both Serbia and Croatia on the road, traditionally these two sides are no push over at international level and for me that warrants a lot of respect. Belgium won 8 of their 10 games, drawing the other 2, scoring 18 and only conceding 4 goals overall.

As mentioned before Belgium have a squad full of stars, players to look out for are Hazard & Lukaku.

Eden Hazard is most definitely Chelsea's most important player and could well be Belgium's too. His a dynamic winger who has great ball skills, he gets around defenders at ease and is just as lethal in front of goal. This guy dominates football games. Simple!!

Their will be a lot relying on Romelu Lukaku to be prolific in front of goal in Brazil as fellow Striker Christian Benteke is set miss the tournament after tearing his Achilles towards the end of the premier league season. Their is a lot I like about Lukaku, he has all the attributes to become a prolific world class striker. His 6 Ft 3, his strong, good in the air, good finisher, poacher in front of goal, good passer, holds the ball up well, their really isn't much he cant do. This KID is a beast. lukaku is only 20 years old and if he can make his mark on the biggest stage of all his stocks will rise significantly.

Other key players are - Kompany, De Bruyne, Mertens, Mirallas, Witsel, Januzaj.
The future is very bright for this Belgium outfit and it really is quite hard to find a genuine weakness

    BETS

    Top team Goalscorer

Romelu Lukaku 2.25* @ $3.00. Bet365. Note - I expect this price to shorten was $3.25 yesterday but $3 is still overs should be around $2.80

    Eden Hazard 0.75* @ $6.50. Bet365. Has come in from $7 to $6.50 overnight.

I really cant see pass these two as top scorers, Belgium are placed in a nice group against Korea, Russia & Algeria and I have them topping the group which means they should be scoring at least 4-7 goals at a minimum throughout the tournament.

Obviously, but seeing that I am from Australia and have a 4u play pending against them I will be covering a small amount of info about them.

              CHILE VS AUSTRALIA

              Chile -1 Asian Handicap 4* @ $1.95 - Bet365

Lets get this straight, Chile are a side not to take lightly, they play a very high tempo attacking brand of football and their results leading up to this tournament must warrant for respect. As mentioned, Chile play a very attacking brand and this side does not lack goals. However, through the qualifying stages Chile scored the 2nd most amount of goals only trailing Argentina who did top the group.

Where this game will be won!

I really do not see how Australia will be able to compete defensively against this potent attacking side. Sanchez, Vidal, (if fit) Isla, Vargas, are very dangerous offensively and Australia just will not be able to handle the pace of these players, their elite ball skills and more importantly Sanchez and Vargas getting in behind, especially against a very inexperienced Australian defensive unit. Australia are currently under a transition period under new manager Ang Postecoglu, although he has vowed to build a side for the future and this entails playing a very attacking brand of football. Postecoglu has already stated that this side is looking to build for the 2015 Asian Cup, by all means the Aussies obviously do not want to lose all 3 games (which is likely) and will try to win but with this attacking style of play its going to leave to many holes at the back especially if the full backs will be joining on the counterattacks which is expected. However, I do expect Chile to pressure the aussies when they are on the ball and if they can force quick turnovers the class of Sanchez and CO will make the most of their opportunities on the counter.

Chile's weakest link may be their own defence but Australia don't really possess any world class threat. Yes Tim Cahill is very capable of scoring and will back him self in the air against any one but I just dont see the aussies scoring more then 1 goal at best. Chile should also be more adapted to the conditions.

Chile are aware that this is a tough group and I do not see them taking any risks especially against Australia, if they are to progress. I truly believe chile win this game 80% -95% (confidence) so as long as they win I cant lose, at worst I get my money back but I have them winning 3-1, 4-1.

agree with your chile-1 pick. first games at these kind of tournaments are essential to win, especially near home and against such a weak opponent. chile looking for 3 points here for sure.
