Anybody thinking about going to World Cup?

I noticed that all of the USA/Ghana tickets are sold out - is it possible to get tickets through a broker or will more open up close to game time? I keep reading that if your name isn't on the ticket you likely wouldn't be allowed into the stadium.

Only hesitation from booking my flight is probably be going by myself b/c none of my friends have enough money to go on a trip like that.

Anybody from here considering going? Anybody been to past world cups on foreign soil?

No, but I would go without any hesitation if I could afford it and if I had enough free time. Especially this one in Brasil, its probably going to be best ever. If you cant find anybody to go with just go alone..just imagine the girls there...copacabana, music..

Yeah something tells me it will be a complete sausagefest in many of the towns where game are being played (think about it - at least 85% of the fans traveling to the WC will be men) so I might do something like fly into Buenos Aires or Uruguay and for beach/partying and then latch onto the Sams Army dorks for the day leading up to game and then pregaming before Ghana match.

lol, but there will still be plenty of girls for everyone, just imagine the bragging right when you come back home, after the WC, all the memories...I could just sit on the beach and watch brasilians play foot volleyball all day...i think thats what they call it

I'm brazilian, and I don't recommend it.
Lot's of crime going on, as usual, and the general public is very displeased with the government and there's talks about riots and even terrorists attacks during the WC.

Be wary of merchants charging insane amounts for very cheap stuff, because they realize that foreigners don't know any better.

But I'll say this, if you decide to go and are at least average looking, brazilian chicks are VERY easy to get for foreigners.
But for that same reason, it's dangerous because brazilian men knows this as well, if you're getting too much attention in a night club for example, you might get beat up or even worse.
