h2h or goal difference, which one counts first? if it's goal difference then even if uruguay wins and chile/ecuador loses both can advance. anyways ill put some money on ecuador just cause of the juicy odds

Ecuador has a +5 GD, Chile +3 and Uruguay -1. As long as both teams don't lose by 3 goals or more, they should both still go through even if there is a winner in their game. Uruguay will have to beat Argentina by at least 2 goals to overtake Chile(if they lose by 3 goals) and Ecuador(if they lose by 5 goals). Do I see that happening? Very slim chance.

Yes, if playing a side, I will also go with Chile. Ecuador is a horrible away team, winless so far in 7 away games, scoring 4 goals and conceding 11.

I understand the concept here too that one point guarantees them both to get in ... but I don't think Chile know how to play it safe. Realistically, the chances of Uruguay beating Argentina by a large enough goal differential to overtake either team is fairly remote one would think. Ecuador especially appears in no danger of losing out in that scenario with a +5 goal margin, while Uruguay is -1. Even if Ecuador gets smoked by three goals ... anyone think Uruguay is going to beat Argentina by three to make up that sort of difference?

Chiile is +3, so they would have to get beat by at least two I would think for Uruguay to entertain maybe a really long shot at tying them for goal differential if they can beat Argentina by two. Uruguay though from all reports seem pretty well resigned to being a playoff team and don't seem to mind.

I'm very tempted to try Over 2 goals in the match. Need to see lineups to make sure both coaches are at least on appearances going to field a strong enough side to expect goals. But if it's a mostly normal XI for both ... Chile has only had one match in qualifying not see at least two goals.

If anyone has a link to lineups ... post away for the curious.

Well if that Chile lineup is close to what they field ... that doesn't look like a squad that's going to sit around and look for a draw. Tough not to like goals as long as Vargas & Sanchez are in there.

going with chile for this, uruaguay game is at the same time so i expect chile to secure a win at home to make sure there position is solid.

from 10 attempts, ecuador has never beaten chile in a world cup qualifer at satiago. they are 6-0-0 scoring 19 and conceded 2 in the last 6 home matches. where as ecuador are 1-3-2 scoring 6 and conceding 7 on away in the last 6 matches. chile have won 6 consecutive matches at home i really doubt the fans would accept a draw.

wouldn't be surprised to see a draw with uruguay, i know they are fielding a stronger team but head to head, argentina haven't lost to uruguay in 90 mins for a while now

I imagine a lot got burnt by those draw odds thinking it was fixed, just like Shakhtar/Juve last season
