I don't know where you get your stats about neighbors being more likely to kill you than someone outside the neighborhood, i don't know about that. The point I was making is that if a neighborhood is full of (lawfully)armed citizens, I believe it's less likely to be targeted by those looking to commit a crime.

80% of all murders are committed by people that know the victim. It is usually neighbor, family or friend. Very rarely is it from a stranger.

Murder - suicides have gone up by a large amount since the Covid pandemic. Just google "murder suicide - insert any city"

I just don't know about forcing private companies who are operating within the law, to shut down. For those out there that are not pro 2a, or who don't even realize what that means, I can see this being a "easy solution", just stop selling guns and less people will have them...but it's really not that simple.

The government does it all the time. Drilling company can't drill on certain property. Company can't advertise certain business in certain markets. Companies can't collude with other companies, companies can't get a license or permit to run their business. Company can't spam call citizens, etc.

The government regulates the activities of businesses in five core areas: advertising, labor, environmental impact, privacy and health and safety.

The health and safety of citizens is one of the leading areas where the government regulates. Look at transportation. Cars (seat belt laws), motorcycles (helmet laws), trains airplanes, etc. Companies have to spend billions of dollars bringing their business up to codes. Tobacco companies.

Why do gun manufacturers get a pass? Instead of trying to ban all guns which is an impossible task or even trying to ban assault rifles, how about start with stopping manufacturers with making more assault rifles?

I think there is a similar stat with car accidents, like most are within a certain distance of your home. I just don't see the firearms industry shutting down. Its huge cash, and I don't mind if every lawful US citizen owns 100 guns. Ive tracked the inventory at one of the gun manufacturers that I prefer, and its insane, the rifles go from 1800-3k each and they are "on the shelf" for only a matter of minuets, they are selling them faster than they are manufacturing them, its crazy(awesome!)..the train ain't stopping soon

I'm all for preventing them from getting into the wrong hands. Also safety training and education play HUGH roles in keeping people safe as far as accidents and improper use.
