              Cherish every day Boys !!
So, your 70 and a good chance your on a Part D with Medicare. Unless you have VA benefits, Tri-Care etc. Basaglar is a fairly in expensive insulin, although it has a retail cost of around 250.00 per 30 day supply. much less than others. Its a Tier 3 med with most companies. Your co-pay is what? About 45.00 per 30 days? Depending on other meds you take you may hit what they call the coverage gap or "donut hole" quickly. You reach this once your carrier pays out 4020.00 during the year. What goes against this is the retail amount 250.00 per month and not your co-pay. As you can see that one med for a 12 month period will eat up 3000.00 of the 4000.00 in just this one med. Then you start paying 25% of the retail cost. Good idea to ask your doctor for samples if they give them out. GL.

Rarely have beer. Even then will limit to one with a meal (low low carb meal)

Can have 3 oz or so of Vodka without a huge sugar spike

I heard NAC (N-Acetyl Cystein an alternative. Plan to make pills with my pillmaker and get him (dog) on those. See if it brings down his numbers a lot and then pull him off the injections. Have to check his blood probably 3-4 times a day so it doesn't drop too low though.
