I say it was not.

And I can see both sides of the argument even though I still disagree with the call.
IMO this is just the latest example of where the umpire thinks he has to be the center of the show.

It doesn't have to be the question at all. Yelich could have elminated the judgement call by turning right and going into foul territroy, but he didn't. He stood there because he knows he made a move towards the left, towards second.

The head fake or flinch with no intention of turning right is all the ump needs. Baseball isn't a game of fake outs in that situation, otherwise you might fool the ump.

Like that fighter that pretended to be woozy to draw the other guy in.

Ref called the fight, said he was walking around woozy.

The base coach and Yelich fukked up there, just like the fighter.
