#3I live right on the border of her and Congressman Grijalva's districts, and they have both been receiving threats for a long time. Her office has been vandalized as well.
The question now is should the people who have been stoking the fire in an area so full of gun fetishists be considered terrorists?Comment -

#5Angle: I feel that the Second Amendment is the right to keep and bear arms for our citizenry. This not for someone who's in the military. This not for law enforcement. This is for us. And in fact when you read that Constitution and the founding fathers, they intended this to stop tyranny. This is for us when our government becomes tyrannical...
Manders: If we needed it at any time in history, it might be right now.
Angle: Well it's to defend ourselves. And you know, I'm hoping that we're not getting to Second Amendment remedies. I hope the vote will be the cure for the Harry Reid problems.
Might be time to stop shit like this.

I've heard plenty of twentysomethings talk about communism, gov't takeovers, "having to pay for queers to get married" etc. The media entertainers wo are fueling this should bear some responsibility. They go home to thei mansions and laugh about what they are doing, but people actually think that communism and gov't takeovers are happening.
One other angle is the cartels though. She has a border district.Comment -

Responsibility? You don't strike me as one of the "video games are too violent" people.
You can't blame pundits for this any more than you can blame rap music for gang violence. If people take shit too seriously to the point they start killing folks it's solely on them.No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.Comment -

You're right, I don't give a shit about violent video games, and I'm not in favor of censoring Beck or anyone else. It seems obvious that it needs to be brought to some of our dimmer-bulbed citizens' attention that it is entertainment.Comment -

#15Rap music comes out of the gang culture. People thinking Obama is going to take their guns away(a great cause for hysteria in AZ) comes from thousands of hours of carefully crafted rhetoric.

Well I can't speak for the people of Arizona, but around here there's major concern that there are plans in the works to take away our guns. And why shouldn't they think that? The U.S. government and the Supreme Court are becoming increasingly open to adopting the policies of foreign nations with zero regard for the Constitution.
Just because stripping our gun rights is an untenable position at the moment doesn't mean it will be in ten years. Clinton couldn't get health care reform passed. But Obama did. With a bill that was crafted under the table years in the making. Is it unreasonable for Americans to think the same tactics might also be applied with respect to gun rights? No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.Comment -

#16No indication the guy was a devout tea partier or anything else. Obviously a nutcase, but the fact that the politician he targeted happened to be on a controversial "hit" list, will change the aggressive nature of politics in the short term.Comment -

#18Rap music wasn't always "gangsta." But I know what you're saying. The cycle seems to have gotten stuck in a narrow groove.

I'm actually heavily on the side of personal protection. Like Travis Bickle said, there's a lot of scum out there. I freaked out when I heard the story because it hits close to home, I like Giffords, and I was at the end of a sleep deprived 600 mile jaunt when it broke. Plus I sharted real bad and had to deal with it while going down the big hill into Salt Lake from Park City.Comment -

#21The only legislation Obama has signed dealing with the issue expanded gun rights. This incident will bring out the gun control advocates for sure though. Probably a crackdown on militia types as well.

When one side posts a distasteful graphic with targets over politicians names, and uses gun imagery non stop, you don't think it's just a bit easy for people when one of those pols gets gunned down???Comment -

#29Way to jump to conclusions on multiple levels. This is a twitter feed from someone who actually knows the guy:
"A 22-year-old woman in Arizona, Caitie Parker, claimed on her Twitter feed that she went to high school and college with the gunman, and was in a band with him. She described his politics in the past as "left wing, quite liberal, & oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy." She also described him as having a lot of friends "until he got alcohol poisoning in '06" and dropped out of school. "Mainly loner very philosophical."
Some of his readings would actually suggest a he could be radical lefty. I will reserve judgement until some solid evidence comes out. Sorry to disaapoint you. I know how much you were praying this guy was a Tea Party memberComment -

#31Nasaki, you are such a f**king idiot. You do not even know what happened. The good congresswoman is NOT dead. It is morons like you that spread false rumors. The trouble with people like you is that none of you know what the f**k you are talking about. You morons on the left will blame the Right Wingers, just like those Liberal assholes who blamed Palin., The morons on the Right will blame the Liberals, because the suspect is a long hair with a problem. People, butt the hell out before you make further fools out of yourselves. When the evidence is in, and the other suspects (yes there is more than one suspect) are arrested, you will find out the truth. Until then, you guys will have to settle for the fact that you know absolutely nothing about this.Comment -
