I live here and the wingers are wingers pretty early.
I've heard plenty of twentysomethings talk about communism,gov't takeovers, "having to pay for queers to get married" etc. The media entertainers wo are fueling this should bear some responsibility. They go home to thei mansions and laugh about what they are doing, but people actually think that communism and gov't takeovers are happening.

Well I can't speak for the people of Arizona, but around here there's major concern that there are plans in the works to take away our guns. And why shouldn't they think that? The U.S. government and the Supreme Court are becoming increasingly open to adopting the policies of foreign nations with zero regard for the Constitution.
Just because stripping our gun rights is an untenable position at the moment doesn't mean it will be in ten years. Clinton couldn't get health care reform passed. But Obama did. With a bill that was crafted under the table years in the making. The only legislation Obama has signed dealing with the issue expanded gun rights. This incident will bring out the gun control advocates for sure though. Probably a crackdown on militia types as well.
I'm actually heavily on the side of personal protection. Like Travis Bickle said, there's a lot of scum out there. I freaked out when I heard the story because it hits close to home, I like Giffords, and I was at the end of a sleep deprived 600 mile jaunt when it broke. HIP-HOP NEWS spreads like any other mainstream NEWS in America. The garbage that's unfit to print has now floated on websites and blogs like sh*t. For example a rapper working in the community gets obscured while if that same rapper robbed a gas station he'd get top coverage and be label a "rapper" while getting his upcoming or current music somewhat put on blast, regardless of its quality which of course is subjective like any other art. RAP sites and blogs are mimicking the New York POST.

"A 22-year-old woman in Arizona, Caitie Parker, claimed on her Twitter feed that she went to high school and college with the gunman, and was in a band with him. She described his politics in the past as "left wing, quite liberal, & oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy." She also described him as having a lot of friends "until he got alcohol poisoning in '06" and dropped out of school. "Mainly loner very philosophical."
