I don't bet soccer alot but I do like the exotic feature that a tie represents to a traditional american sports bettor like myself

Exactly, only problem is if you're US (I am), options are limited and pk more often than not isn't available. Courtesy of Big Brother

You have to bet asians as blowseq says. Tough to get decent lines and low juice for American players though. Otherwise the juice is incredibly low. The market will give you almost 0ev bets if you can shop around across UK/Asian books and matchbook.

no. football (soccer) would suck without draws. it's part of the game. if they decided every game with penalties it would give luck more importance. winning championships is about regularity.

Actually, it's not something new!

In the late 1980s, a number of European football leagues, including Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Norway, experimented with penalty shoot-outs immediately after drawn league matches, with the winner gaining one point more than the loser. Japan's J. League used shoot-outs after drawn games to determine a winner too. These were soon abandoned though..

Football would be a more exciting game without draws..

The reason most sides on soccerlines are + is because the draw-factor. Otherwise everything would be -110/-125. You couldn't make as much money on soccer if you took the 'third' option away for the sake of having a 50/50 outcome.

☝ What he said. Could live without penalty kicks. Same with hockey, shootouts are a horrible way to decide the outcome of a game. Play 'til someone scores (at the knockout stage).

the three way outcome is why soccer is always a money maker for the books. Plenty of people bet the 7-10 team parlays with huge moneylines, usually the worst odds is the one that draws and blows it all up

How exciting would it be to play till a goal is scored.......People will get tired, but maybe allow 2 extra subs if game goes past 120 minutes

Don't you think there would be even more regular time draws that way?
The underdogs would want to kill most of the 2nd half to take it to PK and get a genuine chance of winnin Bayern, Barca or whichever favourite they facin.
