    Iverson to Celtics??
    Guys,

    I was reading about it.
Some say its just a rumor but...
Boston have definitely been searching for a real superstar since...
    well since... Bird
Danny Ainge would definitely make this brilliant move.
Everyone knows Iverson wants out of Philly.
I know he carries some baggage and all but in my opinion we would definitely look good in Green!!
    What do you guys think?

I'm not sure. I'm not as deep into the NBA as some other people around here but I get the impression that Iverson, while he does put up some good individual numbers, has a style that is not the greatest for team results.

The hockey comparison I have heard is to Pavel Bure. Very flashy but not much playoff success.

I guess it would depend what the Celtics had to give up.

I saw that this morning, but AI in Boston just doesn't seem to fit, imho.

Iverson nice fit there especially since DOC being a point guard he would protect him..With Pierce they have a nice option, and they have good perimeter shooters..

The only problem is here where would Iverson live??..In what neighborhood could he exist..Does Big papi have a house for sale on his block??

i think pierce and AI would be at war over who gets the ball at crunch time.

You guys think maybe Pierce is involved in the trade...
Ill take AI over Pierce any day of the week but Im not familiar with Pierces contract situation.
I still think they can play together.

As a Celtics fan, I would hate this move. I don't like Iverson. Great talent but a major pain in the rear. This would blow up any good cap room Boston has. What they need is a couple of mid-level veterans. With Szerbiak and LaFrentz having huge contracts, I don't seee Iverson getting added.

Pierce is under contract for next season only. The season after that, he has the option for around $16 million to stay with Boston, then he's a free agent. He can become a free agent next spring, and since he'd likely get a similar deal, opting out of his contract wouldn't cost him money.

I can see that deal being made since Ainge wants to play fast and that's Iverson's game. I can't see it getting, made, though, without Pierce as the counter-player. Pierce is younger which makes it not a great basketball trade IMO, but if Boston thinks he might walk then I see the logic.

                        Latest rumor floating around is:

                        Boston gets AI
                        Philly gets Boozer
                        Utah gets Wally and Jefferson

How much $$ under the cap is Boston?? If they don't have a lot of room, gonna be hard to make a deal happen

They have a little room only, but they'd have to unload either Szerbiak or Raef LaFrentz, who are each making around $12 million a year for the next 3 years. Iverson is making around $20 million a season.

If the Celtics could dump Szerbiak or LaFrentz, they might be able to make a deal.

I don't like Iverson, but if the salaries are basically a wash, I say go for it. Just don't touch Chris Webber for anything in the world.

If the Celtics have a lineup with Pierce, Iverson, Gomes, West and LaFrentz, that's not a bad lineup. Plus, maybe Marcus Williams in the draft tonight. They need a couple more veterans off the bench.
