    Poker Poem
Friend sent me this poem about poker he wrote, I thought it was pretty good for an amature.

    What is your favorite game?
    Hold’em, 7 Stud Hi/Lo or 5 Card Draw?
Maybe the famous Dr. Pepper, that is lame
10, 2, 4 wild cards should be outlawed.

Texas Hold’em is on TV more than Lassie used to be
Online games for fun and real have an addictive appeal
Always a Mike The Mouth chatting the spill
Or a Moneymaker, Fossilman or Helmuth want-to-be

Poker rules enforced by software at cyber site
Where a million of fun money will buy you zero
A rookie can become WSOP Champ overnight
“Aussie, Aussie, Aussie” they cheered for their hero

Qualifiers hoping in the end to be at the final table
Shuffle Up and Deal, I think it’s better than sex appeal
Unabomber, Jesus, Babydoll and what is your label?
Amarillo Slim, The Professor, all bluff and steal

For most of us involved in a local or casino game
Some are stack shufflers or bluffers of fame
All of us expectantly waiting for our next hand
This is the fix of poker players, an all-in stand

Speaking of amateurs, here's my effort...

I thought I had the pot won
    With two Kings dealt pre-flop
My raise was followed by folds
Did I bet too much, I thought?

But the last man at the table
    Called my raise real quick
    After bluffing all game long
    Could this be another trick?

    The flop was King-eight-deuce
    One diamond and two spades
With a set of big ol’ cowboys
I thought my hand was made

I bet the pot once over
    Expecting him to fold
But call, he did, so swiftly
Were two spades down in his hold?

The turn was Jack of Hearts
No help for either, I grinned
No time to be a coward
Half my stack I did put in

As fast as he had called before
    The player matched my bet
On the inside I did worry
But he never saw me sweat

    Another deuce on the river
A full house would be my hand
I slow played just a little
Then pushed my stack, “All in.”

    He called me once again
    Just as quickly as before
A crowd gathered at our table
As a buzz swept ‘cross the floor

I turned my two Kings over
“Full boat,” I let him know
He paused for just a second
Before his face did start to glow

There is no joy in Mudville
    I got beat without excuses
He raked in all my money
    On four lousy, stinkin’ deuces.
