Solid player, maybe Hall of Very Good, but I can't put him in, all things being equal. The 1 MVP he won does help his case. I just think if you put Vlad in, it opens it up to too many borderline guys.

I would not, but I admit it's hard to say, coming from a slightly different era. Hitting 400 HRs in the 1980s is different than hitting 400 HRs in the 90s-00s.

It's hard with outfielders and first basemen. It's like they're on a different level.

I'm very tough. There are guys that I know are locks for the HOF that I would never vote for, like Thome, Biggio, Bagwell, etc.
I don't care about their numbers, they just weren't HOF players.

Then there's Mattingly who had HOF numbers for a few years but not enough.

Of all of them, maybe the Veterans' Committee puts Hernandez in based on defense (best I've ever seen), but that's doubtful.
