I don't bet with money I can't afford to lose. It's the best way to stay in the game 365 days a year!

if many of us only made bets with money we could afford to lose we would not be betting.

If you ever get questioned by a bank teller for a check, just tell them you host a gay porn site and tell them you can give them a 50% discount.

Also, we had a home mortgage line of credit for about 27,500. I took the check for it and cashed them about 5K at a time, sent the money off to Pinnacle via W U. One time in 2007, i sent off 12K via W U, they really balked on that one and almost didn't let it go thru but eventually did. And i lost that 12K in a weekend's time.

A little after that though i turned 3K into 30K during the 2007 NCAA Tournament. Greg Oden and OSU rode me to many victories in that tourney, none bigger than beating Xavier in OT and beating Tennessee by 1 point.

Straight up, reading this thread made my stomach turn....and not because I am disgusted by people’s actions, but because I can (kind of) relate.

I started betting in Grade 6 when I organized a back-room penny ante poker game. I would literally keep my pennies in my desk in an old cod-liver oil bottle.

For the most part, I have been lucky. At 18 I was playing blackjack at the casino, but I had no credit and could only lose what I had. I also did really well on the pool tables and at the poker games that we played while at pool tournaments.

My only degen play was when I was 22 or so. I walked into the bank one day and tried to withdraw $30 or something....and the teller asked ‘from which account?’. Now, I probably should have been like ‘what do you mean?’, but I understood right away that I needed to be coy. I responded wth ‘can you tell me the balance in each account?’

‘Yes sir, your balance in the chequing account is $63 and your balance in the savings account is $9500’.

I had accidentally found the joint account my parents had opened for me. Over the course of the next year I lost all of it....there was maybe $60 left in the account when I got a call from my parents that they needed to talk to me.

I went home and they were sitting there with the print outs of my withdrawals....hundreds of them. I had video-pokered that account into nothing.

That was the worst day of my life. I had betrayed their trust and I still feel sick about it. It took YEARS to earn that trust back. I came clean and told them that I would not play video poker again, and to this day I have only played it 5-6 times when utterly bored.

Aside from that one time, I have never lost money that wasn’t mine.

I know man, talk about embarrassing. I used to tend bar and serve tables...and we had those machines right in our bar. Not like that stopped me from going other places too. I have been pseudo-hooked on many things...those damn machines were the only thing that I actually felt a true addiction to.

Of course that was like 1992. And yes, I knew how bad the odds were.

Lets just say, it helped me grow up.
