laker do you really believe Italy will beat ze germans? the celtics dominated the lakers too for years before la started getting better talent. so Italy is bound to dominate germany forever? I can assure you that the players are not thinking about history when they're in the game.

italy has always been better than germany in the past. The last few years, germans have become one of the best teams in the world. not defensively but the best offense for sure.

lakerboy i was with you on this bet but the extra 2 days rest plus going extra time is just going to kill the italians. in a 60 minute game they would have a fighting chance but that last 30 is going to bury them

Germany created a lot of chances against a tough Greek defense. Their quick one-touch passing in the final 1/3rd of the field is what puts them ahead of Italy. They're also much sharper in front of goal. Italy's striker(s) lack killer instinct.

I do like how Italy has grown into the tournament. Good to see four positive teams left, with the negatives sides sent home (mostly Greece and England). The last three games of the tournament should be good with four creative teams.

Lakerman could be right here. the Italians feed off the passion and grit of their keeper Gigi Buffon. But they don't have a shut down d like they used to and don't have an answer for Ozil.

Germany seems more determined. If the Italians were so focused they wouldn't have allowed a game they dominated to enter PKs.

Because I read your post in the other thread and came here and reread your reasoning. I may be underestimating Italy. I was going to hammer Germany to advance tomorrow, but its only going to be a few bills max. I don't want to get buried. I don't believe in historical statistics. What are you saying that the Italians are going to dominate germany forever?

Germany has not lost a pk shootout since 1976. They have nerves of steel. Italy has to beat them before that to adv. If it goes to a shootout I would take germany everytime.

Any team at this level that parks the bus is tough to get through. Germany cut through the Greek defense like a knife through butter. But so did Italy against England.

This German team is not used to playing from behind. Good game. Two positives teams. Hope Italy wins it all now, because Spain has become very boring.
