    BetCris Weekly Review June 12th
This week was the start of the much anticipated Soccer World Cup. Living here in Costa Rica and having Costa Rica kick off the world cup against Germany was quite an experience. The whole of Costa Rica stops when it comes to Soccer. The match started at 10am local time on Friday and many businesses’s simply just shut down! Even at lunch time we found it hard to find a place to call to have food delivered, they were either closed or not answering the phone as they were watching the television!

So far the world cup has been great, with the best result for us so far being Trinidad Tobago’s draw with Sweden. Sweden started a big -550 favorite, and Trinidad –Tobago even had a player short after a red card, just into the second half. Somehow though, Trinidad and Tobago held on for a 0-0 draw. One customer would have felt sick after he placed $44,000 to win $8000 on Sweden.

Chicago Rush won Arena Bowl XX on Sunday with a 69-61 victory over Orlando. I can’t say that we will be sad to see Arena Football gone for the year, as it just doesn’t attract bets from everyday people. The Canadian league kicks off on Friday and with more and more NFL players heading up north, in particular big names like Ricky Williams, hopefully that will translate into more people following and betting CFL.

Dallas has jumped into a 2-0 lead over Miami for a big lead for this year’s NBA Championship. They look terrific so far, but injuries to Josh Howard and Jason Terry may be big problems for them going into the last matches in the series.

Baseball continues its good trend for us, and the best part for us is that our regular, everyday players are doing well, and our normally ‘wise guy’ customers are the ones who are offsetting the winners. I can’t leave without congratulating my countrymen, Australia. They performed admirably against Japan for a 3-1 victory. I am basking in their World Cup glory as their next match up is against tournament favorite’s Brazil on June 18th, when I doubt it will be the same result!

    Until next week,

    Shane Catford

Guess the Stanley Cup does not even register on the betting radar for betcris.....that's how far NHL has fallen.

I take the guy who bet $44k on Sweden didn't bet it 3-way and thus got his stake returned. If that's 5% of his bankroll I wish I had that bankroll.
