    Second Generation Superstars
An article explaining how Hochevar was chosen first by the Royals this year went on to state how there were many SONS of stars being chosen in the draft as well. Take a look at the list of stars who's sons were picked in this years draft.

Doug Drabek - pitcher, been everywhere

Don Mattingly - Preston hit .464 in high school ball...and signed with Tennessee.

Jesse Barfield - Josh Barfield Playing for SD

Carney Lansford - ?, anybody know?

Chet Lemon - CF, White Sox

Gary Roenicke - ?, anybody know?

Also on the list were Jim Tracy the Pirates manager and the Pirates hitting coach John Shelby whose sons were chosen in this years draft. Way to keep the game in the family guys.

Kyle Drabek (father - Doug) was the first son-of-MLB'er drafted yesterday that I could find. Knock on him is he's a bit of a spoiled brat, prone to tantrums and whining at times. The upside is he's a solid prospect both on the mound and at shortstop, giving the Phillies options on how to develop him.

Glenn Gibson (father - Paul Gibson) was a 4th-rounder to the Nationals. Big lefty with good assortment of pitches. Baseball America note he was the first New York kid to be drafted yesterday (Rd 4).

Marcus Lemon (father - Chet) came out of a Florida high school in Round 4 to the Rangers. Pretty good shortstop.

Ben Snyder (brother - Brad, Indians) is a lefty out of Ball State with pretty hard stuff according to scouts. Went to the Giants in Round 4.

Preston Mattingly (father - Don) went to the Dodgers with the 31st overall pick (sandwich). Good speed and high average type hitter but some doubt his ability to play SS on MLB level.

Jared Lansford (father - Carney) was Oakland's 2nd-rd pick a year ago. He's pitching in Low-A ball for the A's right now at Kane County, presently 4-3 in 7 starts with a 2.72 ERA.

Didn't see Josh Roenicke's (father - Gary; uncle - Ron)) name on the list yet. Know he was considered an excellent outfield prospect out of UCLA. Also believe Shane Keough (father - Matt) was to be drafted.
