Weekly Review June 5th
After two terrific conference championship series, we are finally down to just Miami or Dallas to win the 2006 NBA Championship. Dallas is the early favorites at -160. After some great series match ups, we will be sad to see the conclusion to the NBA season with a record amount of bets placed this year.
The Arena football heads to its conclusion this weekend with Chicago Rush playing Orlando Predators in the Arena Bowl. Orlando upset the heavy 10 point favorites Dallas Desperados on Sunday which was a great result for us. It’s not often that bookmakers have good results with Arena football as usually it’s a bettor’s paradise.
Baseball has seen many of big injuries so far this year, but none bigger that Albert Pujols. We have already seen many big name players head to the DL already and I wonder if this is a year of misfortune, or the controversial steroid policy in effect has something to do with it. It hasn’t stopped the betting however with lots of action being wagered. Injuries to teams like the Yankees have helped find money against them, where normally we would have found ourselves with too much money wagered on the Yankees.
Our office has been swarmed in the last week with TV crews all wanting interviews and generating stories about our Hurricane proposition bets that we offered. We offered various odds on whether a Hurricane would hit the USA this year, but some people seemed to think this was in bad taste. Some people are easily offended, but surprisingly enough it was our customers who wanted to wager on it. We however would not offer odds of deaths or casualties etc, just topics which have historical data and general interest.
Friday is the first match of the World Cup Soccer so I suggest you get your bets on now for your favorite country.
