I have known my friend for years and have lent him money quite a few times with no problems. All of a sudden he's a few weeks late with no repayment. What should I do?

#3That's a tough call, Illusion. In the past, I've been screwed over by "friends" who still to this day have not paid me a cent. I may not be the right person to respond to this but I say address the issue and tell your friend how you feel.
You will more than likely get a sob story and the way to combat that is with a sob story of your own. My two cents....

#8Tough call. Way I look at it, if they don't have a quick obvious way to pay it back, I just give them as much as I can and don't even call it a loan. Because loans among friends don't make much sense at least in my exerience. That said everyones experience is different, I certainly think it is reasonable to call him on this and depending on response you will have to decide how frequently or strong to push it.Comment -

#10Sorry, Illusion, but you shouldn't have lent jjgold any money in the first place.
Maybe he can give you a BJ as part payment?Originally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#11Does this friend have a job? If not, how do you expect him to pay you back?
I usually dont loan anyone money, it only leads to problems down the road. If you cant do without that money and just give it to him, you dont need to be loaning out money in the first place.
What interest rate are you giving on your loans? I may hit you up for one if the rate is right.Comment -

#12The above point are valid and Im not meaning to dismiss them entirely.
But, for me, I think the loss of a finger for each day over the set time limit would be reasonable. Always start with the little one first to be fair though.
Either that or have him rubbed out as a warning to your other friends. Otherwise everyone round the block will be trying to take advantage of you.
Or you could just drop a hint (such as "when are going to pay up, you nonce?).Comment -

The better the friend is the worse is the whole problem. You are risking not just money, but also the friendship.
Generally there are two kinds of people - lenders and borrowers. Unfortunatelly the borrowers are case of adverse selection. If they can not manage they past incomes and outcomes they will probably do not manage it in the future. But usually only they need the money, because of their behavior.
That is the reason why do not lend money.
I paid too much (in money and friendships) to make the mistake again.Comment -

#17Loaning friends money usually ends friendships. Never ever loan him money again. If you do, he will think you are an idiot for trusting him and will burn you to teach you a lesson.Comment -

#18I agree with Chuck here...I wouldn't loan him money anymore, or anyone money anymore for that matter...I've never been stiffed by a friend, but no longer loan out money because it put strains on some friendships...Comment -
