Im curious to see if you guys do a lot of homework leading up to the football seasons. Do you go get all the season preview magazines and completley learn the teams? Anything special?

Check out NFL.com. More info than any magazine that I know about. Otherwise, I watch as much game tape as I can.

I read the Football Preview, Visit NFL.com almost
daily and pretty much am on top of every transaction
possible. I think that is why I am losing in baseball
because I can't say I know every player like I can
in football!!!! What up slacker!!!! Can't wait to
make some more money during football!!

imgv, are you gonna do any betting on the NFL preseason?

I'm tempted, but I'm sure there's a fine art to doing it, mainly knowing how bad a coach/team wants to win a meaningless game. Do many books lay lines on NFL preseason?

raiders told me alot of money can be made during
preseason football. I don't know myself. If you know
what team cares more than I guess you can make
some $. I will watch raiders and probably follow him
some!!! GL Slacker!!! Whatever ya do!

I only wager on college football...here's how I prepare:...spend an hour a day studying various websites (covers, sportsdegenerates.com, therx.com, sbr, collegefootballnews.com and eog.com)...college football news has some excellent articles and individual team previews...we're 103 days out from the season and it will come quick...I also like to research a good site that gives updated injury reports and look at the ncaa website for up to date states (statfox.com is pretty good as well)..I also start to watch a lot of last years games that are televised again on ESPNU, especially the bowl games...the one magazine I buy is the sportingnews, that one is a good one...make sure you have a high speed connection for the season and an upgraded TV package...both are essential to making money in the fall...hope this helps...these reasons, along with 21 years experience in handicapping college football are usually why I make a profit each year...

I do absolutely nothing at all. I just bet against the public. I try to take Vegas's side as much as possible. This includes betting dogs almost every weekend. The games I bet take some serious balls. Very bad teams getting very limited points.

I had success for a couple of years. I used to be a "sucker." It took alot of losing before I started winning.

I think it was Clip Joint that bet 1 unit on every underdog in the Preseason and came up nice at the end of preseason. I think it was +17 units. Thats a pretty good chuck to be up going into the regular season.

Here is the link to that thread from last season:
Sports betting and handicapping forum: discuss picks, odds, and predictions for upcoming games and results on latest bets.

guys, just remember what vegas says about guys with "systems"...they always want that action...it's definitely good to follow trends, but there's no substitute to good handicapping...read as much as possible...study as much as possible...it will pay off in the long run...

most important thing to do is to build up your bankroll.either by baseball bonus scalping or working hard at your job
